Default Cometic Heads Gaskets

Hi: Just changing some head gaskets on a 455 bored .030. So 4.181
Does a cometic gasket with a bore 4.200" sound right?

Thanks
Charles

They can make any bore, thickness or water hole pattern you want.

As long as it doesn't overhang the bore its good. I run a 4.200 and have found to also check to see if it overhangs the combustion chamber on the head.

Ok, I will watch for that when I check them on the block. Thank you.

Because i had my head milled there was one area on the combustion chamber that the gasket over hung, because when you mill a head, the chamber starts to get wider. If you have 2 dowel pins you can locate the gasket on the head to determine if it fits ok. I got lucky and was able to trim it without getting into the sealing ring area.

Thanks guys. I got it all figured out. Talked to Dave and he pointed out somethings about the gaskets that I had never paid attention to like the valve relief area. I appreciate the help.

Thanks
Charles
