So as I have posted before I have the dreaded 3rd gear synchro issue in my trans. I am looking for advice on people that have the TKO600 with and without consoles cause I am about to make some changes. I ordered the trans with the understanding that it was for a bench seat car. When I had the bench it was fine. Now that I have the buckets 5th gear is quite a reach. When I installed it I ordered the shift porch/hump in case I ever put buckets in or wanted a console but I never could get the shift handle to work with the porch so I just sheet metaled over the hole and got carpet for a flat floor and put a generic boot on it. Since the trans has to come out for the synchros here is my plan. I called American Powertrain and asked about getting a bucket seat shifter. They said the shifters were the same and the reason that I couldnt get it to work with the hump was because the dog bone the shifter mounts to is clockable. I dont remember it being that way. Anyone have that experience? I plan to buy another hump and a set of carpet with the hump cast into it so it will finally be right. My concern is the dog bone. I dont want to replace the carpet and put the hump in and never be able to get the shift handle to line up. Does anyone have experience with this?

When I got my TKO600 from Keisler which is now Silver Sport, they customized the shifter to accommodate my 76 Trans am. When I went to the TKX I moved away from that modification. What I went to was a customized shifter from Modern Transmission. https://www.moderndriveline.com/trem...ZWNZ9adwKP4G6w
If you look on there website, they have a lot of combination of shifters. You should be able to source one of these to accommodate your setup. My shifter has the dog bone on it and it's clock-able. Worked out really nice for me. I also changed my shifter handle to accommodate my style of driving. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/huu-53954hst There is lots of different styles of shifters and handles that should work for you. Before you take your tranny out, you could figure out where you want the handle. Something else that I wanted to mention to you. I installed my Hurst handle after installing the TKX and it was like driving a truck. I hatted it. That's when I chenged to the shifter I have now. I'm really enjoying the setup I have now. My point being is if you find the shifter and handle combination to suit you, you'll enjoying driving your car 100 % more.
