Default Steering wheel restore

Hi,
I need to fix a few minor scratches and repaint my 67 GTO (not wood) steering wheel.
Can I use bondo for the minor scratches? if not what do you recommend?

I assume I can just lightly scuff the wheel then apply primer and then paint? What paint is recommended? Should it be gloss?
Its a black steering wheel.
Thank you

I have done numerous steering wheels in 58-64 chevrolets and I have found the stuff in the Eastwood kit is superior to bonding or jb weld. The trick is getting the rattle can paint to not rub off where your hands rest
