Thumbs up "...and somewhere in the darkness, the gambler, he broke even..."

I liked him. Saw him in concert in Dayton in the 80s. Gave a great performance, and refused to shake hands with the people in the front row because "all everybody else will see is the top of my head."

A good life.

I liked his music. Sirius Radio plays allot of his early music with the First Edition on the 60's channel. It actually had a rock/psychedelic edge to it. RIP

Probably unknown to most people on here, that Kenny Rogers was a major player in Sprint car racing as a car owner. He also had a major stake in the Gambler chassis company in Hendersonville TN, which produced sprint car chassis in the 80s until the late 90s. The Gambler name, is of course associated with one of his big hit songs.

He also starred in the movie "Six Pack" about six orphans being involved in a NASCAR racing team. Rogers played the character of Brewster Baker.

A friend of mines wife accidentally ran into Kenny Rogers outside of a motel that they were both staying at. She is a huge country music fan and approached him and asked if he would pose for a picture with her. She told me he was highly approachable and consented to take a couple pictures with her, told me he came off as just a real nice down to earth person.

RIP

He didn’t look like himself in the end, too much plastic surgery.
