Mine is spatter; I don't know for sure if it is completely original or not.

July of 1963 Pontiac Michigan build.

I also have this red car, gleaned from the internet for reference.

Hard to say with this one because the cardboard side panels are in place, as is the trunk mat.

I found Jimmy Hoffa (plus two other unidentified Teamsters) in mine.

The 11k mile 63 GP that I owned years ago had the trunk painted body color (black). I have no idea of the build date but it was a Pontiac built car.

I can't remember the month (January?), but early '63s had body colored firewalls and then they went to black firewalls. I have three '63 Catalinas here at this moment and all three are now or were unrestored cars when I got them and all three have black firewalls and spatter trunks. It may be that some of the cars that had the body color firewalls also had body color trunks? Did your GP also have a body colored firewall?

The interesting thing on the body colored firewalls, at least to me it is interesting, is that all of the high dollar SD restorations you see on late 1962 built '63 Catalina SD cars were done with black firewalls but I don't think they left the factory that way. At least one of the '63 SD Catalinas in McCarthy's book appears to have a body colored firewall but it is a black and white picture so hard to tell exactly.

It had a black firewall, but it was a black car so I don't think that helps.

Two different ‘63’s. Got them from my father, original owner. One a 63 Bonneville, the other a Catalina convertible. Both Yorktown blue. Both firewalls painted body color. Both trunk floors are aqua/black and one maybe has some very little grey splatter in it too. (At least it looks like there is some very minimal grey splatter in the Convertible trunk ) Both Linden, NJ made cars.
