Default 6X head date codes

Just wondering what date codes would be correct on a late Oct 76 block cast (77 W72)

I'm finding spring 76 and a lot of 78...but nothing too close to block

ive heard & seen date codes for heads can be off by a few months up to ~6 months, all based on finished head supply to be used on engines before a new batch was cast. same for other parts, dates can be off by quite a bit sometimes. im sure others will have better more accurate info on this though.

Interesting data point for all the W72 cars. Block cast dates are documented, but have not seen anything on the 6X4 heads.

My car is a late 11/78 build, ‘79 Y84 W72. As with all 78-79 W72’s, the block cast date is 11/77 and the heads are both cast dated as 2/78 within a few days of each other.

Not sure how this compares with other ‘77, ‘78 and ‘79 W72 cars.

My original 77 W72 Julian codes are K176 (Nov 17, 1976) for the engine and L166 (Dec 16-1976) for the heads.

6x-4 heads the earliest I have is a L085 (Dec08,1975 from a 350? and a J1667 (Oct 77) from a later 350 or 400.
