Default Inner hood frame to hood seal

Did the hoods come from the factory with a sealant between the inner support frame and outside skin? If so, was it just a cushion to take up any gaps for vibration reasons? Or, was it to actually bond the two together? I know they are spot welded together around the edges to hold them together.

The factory would put dollops of bonding adhesive between the bracing and the panel.
This was to help stiffen and prevent oil canning of the panels.
It also would dry out over time and in some cases when opening the hood
and/or deck lid you might hear chucks rolling around within the brace.
3M carries the gun cartridges of this.
