Touch up paint

I have some places where the paint came up while I was plastic razor blading the faded pinstriping off my Escalade. I went to my local automotive paint shop and got a perfect match to the black and a very expensive brush. I let my wife who is a talented painter but it still left raised areas where it was obviously brushed on. YouTube says hit the area with wet 2000 grit sandpaper then rubbing compound tge meguiars crystal polish all by hand.. I have no experience with any paint work. Does this sound like a reasonable fix?
