Buick 455 in 1981 Trans Am
Is a Buick 455 swap into a 1981 TA a stright up swap? Thanks.

I believe you can use the Buick V-6 mounts, but it has been a quarter century since I last played with one of those combos. Also, it depends on what you have in there now. If you have a BOP trans, it will bolt up. If you have a chevy trans, it will not. Having said that, even if it is a BOP trans, no 81 trans will hold up to a 455 Buick. So you might as well upgrade the trans at the same time.
I love that swap as the big Buick is about the same weight as a SBC! Also my second favorite engine

Hi I have a 77 TA with a buick 455 in it, I did not put it there but I can tell you that if it has A/C the valve cover will hit the box or be very close as they chopped the box on mine to get it in. Mark

I have a Buick 455 in my 80 Bird. Had to do some fab work using other mounts to get it in there. They did a good job though and it looks great in there!
