Hi:

I'm restoring my trunk to orginal and I bought the car without a spare tire. Could someone tell me what size/type of rim I need to get and some possible sources?

I have the bumper jack and stand but that's it! What else will I need besides the lug wrench to complete the setup?

Thanks in advance!

Mark

First you need to find out whether your car came with the full size spare or space saver. My 74 T/A came with the full size spare Ralleye II and the original Uniroyal tire is still on it. I have the jack, breaker bar, wing nut and molded plate that keeps it all down.

I have whichever was stock on a T/A. No factory upgrades in the wheel or spare area. Would that be the full size or the compact?

Thanks!

My spare is a full size Uniroyal. My window sticker does not list any options regarding the spare, so I would assume the full size is standard.

Thanks Ross! Is your full size a Ralley II or just a black 15" rim?

My 74 Formula has a Rally II 15 x 7 as a Spare not the orignal tire, I Stripped a 75 formula and in the trunk was a Rally II with a FR78-15 that I believe is also a Uniroyal tire that looked like it never had been out of the trunk. Still had the knobbie's on the tire and just the backside of the rim had a little surface rust on it.

Addicted to Buying Nicer Parts for a Future Restoration even thou I have every part for it Already.

My car came with RWL radials on the option list, but my spare is a Uniroyal whitewall on a Rally rim. The tire has never been on the ground, so I'm assuming it is original.

My friend had an all original '74 SD-455 T/A about three years ago (that he bought for $2500!!!) and it had a mini spare with a gray rim and a funky looking expandable tire. He kept the spare so I'll have to take a closer look the next time I see him.

If the decal is still on the inside of the trunk lid that will show weither or not the car had a full size or mini-spare.

If the the full size/mini spare was a no-cost option I don't think it would show up on the PHS dealer invoice. You'd need the build sheet to find out
