Default Dan Gregory (Crazy Dan the GTO Man) passed on

Our friend and fellow club member, Dan Gregory, passed away while attending the GTOAA National Convention on July 11. If you ever met him, you knew him. He was quite the character. He dealt in GTO's and parts for the past 35 years. His son Dan who now runs DJ GTO Parts was at the convention also and was able to make a very courageous tribute speech to his father. A fitting end if it had to be. Please keep Dan, his family, and friends in your prayers.

That certainly dampened the spirits at the banquet. Very sad news.

Unhappy Thanks...

this hit our Club especially hard...been a really bad stretch for us lately and this was VERY out of the blue! Jerry...all I could think about was our little parking lot gathering Friday night and discussing Dan. I'll pass along any more details as things unfold but as of now there have been no updates. Dan was a Viet Nam Veteran and that is where his passion really came out. He held an annual car show/picnic for the local VA hospital so in honor of Dan...please help out a Vet. Can't go wrong with that! Thanks again for your thoughts for the family.

Dan would never have wanted that...as he was more often the life of the party. Dan Jr. just announced that he would be getting married in September...so the timing sucked all around.

Bought numerous parts from Dan, for my Dad's 66 GTO at a POCI event in Ohio many years ago. RIP Dan

Is there an obituary or any details on arrangements?

Eric

Default Dan Gregory RIP

I first met Dan around 1981-2. He was going to Carlisle that fall, said I ought get up really early on Saturday morning and drive over to meet him. I'll never forget what he told me to try and convince me to go. He said "I guarantee you've never seen anything like it." He was right. Dan had a couple of spaces in the north field close to the turnpike. This is probably my favorite photo of Dan, taken years later, doing what he loved best, driving around in his GTO.

Eric, there will be no funeral. That was Dan's wishes. I don't have an obit yet, if one is put together, I'll share it. We will have a celebration of Dan's life at our club All Pontiac Show on August 9th. The details of which can be found here:

It was because of Dan that all of those Pontiacs etc in Cincinnati had the chance to be saved in 1999.

Dan was a true Pontiac man.

Never formally met Dan, but I feel like I got to know him after his son's courageous speech and wish I did meet him earlier. GTOs are great cars, but the people in this hobby and GTOAA make it greater.

I believe the first time I met Dan was back in 1981 through a mutual friend that traded GTOs and parts with him. He was just like most called him Crazy Dan the GTO man. Loud and ready to talk to anyone he met. Every time you would see him he give you a big Hi! No matter how he felt he was always ready to go to a GTO show or swap meet or out on a show for the veterans. He would help you with whatever you were working on and gave advice with a story to go along with it. He will truly be missed by all that knew him. Our prayers are with him and his Dan Jr. Rob

Very sad news. Condolences to his family and friends.

I met Dan at the 04 GTOAA Nats, both he and DJ made my partner and I feel welcomed and as Ron mentioned above, like we had known him for years.

He even took us out in his 66 for a cruise down Woodward. At one point he even ran a red light (in complete safety I might add) just so we could get a group shot of GTOs!

I'd like to share a few of the shots I took on Woodward with you...photos of a day that was an experience I will hold fondly forever.

RIP Dan.
