Here is my car with the YearOne Rally II's. I'm running 255/45-17 on the front and 285/40-17 on the back and their is no rub even at full lock. I just need to lower the car now to finish off the look. Just as a heads up to anyone looking at buying them, you need longer wheels studs because the wheels are so much thicker that the stock stamped steel ones.

John31s did you end up using the Et's or did you put on longer studs?

I wonder if the mount takes a tapered or flat lug.

Maybe you need to use the YO lugs?

I looked at a pic of the YO 69 bird and it seems that they used the flat style lugs they sell with the rims like the snowflakes.

I ordered YO 17x9 cast snowflakes for my 78 Bandit. I havent got them just yet. They take the same lugs as on the original snowflakes which clearly arent the tapered steel rally wheel lugs.

I already have mine, they come with a tapered lug. I also didn't like the amount of thread so I got longer studs, got the front done but I can't find a long stud for the rear with the right knurl, ordered .480 and they were too big. So thinking might just run with the ETs if they work. Car is a 1973 Grand Prix, I'll post pics as soon as I get them on.

I put new studs in. Thiers no room for the ET style lug nuts or that's hat what I thought.

As far as lug nuts from YearOne goes, they sell them with the same nuts thr PY sells. Thier chrome with either black or red inserts, not some specially lug nut.

John What studs did you get for the rear? Like I said I'm having trouble finding ones that will fit. .480 is too big

I used .480 out back and .570 up front. If .480 is to big just measure the inside diameter of the hole with a feeler gauge and just order a size or two big. I used jegs part number 555-65101 and 555-65100 which both give a range of hole sizes they will fit.

You guys should really consider these before studs. I ran them with a 1/4 spacer on Buick Regal -T and they were great. IF you find you still don't have enough thread then get studs.

Besides if you do studs aren't you hosed if you go back stock since the factory lugs are closed end?

It seems strange YO didn't use the lugs they push with the rims.

Yea. When I bought the extended lug nuts I needed to cut them down to fit them under the closed end nuts with the red ends. Well when I had them on the lathe I set what I thought was the right length, and my friend said they were too long, and I ignored him and they are. They are a 1/16 of an inch too long so they punch through and ruined all the red centers just knocking them out. this pissed me off because I loved those red centers. I might paint the end of the studs red for looks.

And I won't have to worry about going back to the original wheels because I'm butting big brakes on which won't fit under any wheels smaller than 17 inch.

I threw some 17x9 YO snowflakes on the 67 bird to get some measurements.

I emailed Year One:
"I have recently purchased the Pontiac Rallye 2 17x9 aluminum wheels and I am concerned about the thread engagement of the lug nuts. It seems the wheel is thicker than a standard steel wheel and the thread engagement is much less. Do you know what the corrective action for this is? Do I need to purchase longer wheel studs or extended tip (ET) lug nuts? I was wondering if this issue was encountereed during product development and how it was addressed."

and this is what they said:
"The thread engagement depends on the length of the existing lug studs. When people find less than minimum thread engagement we recommend extended shank lug nuts as this is easier than locating and installing longer stock type studs. We do not usually recommend racing type long studs as they are too long to use with capped lug nuts and require open ended nuts."

So I ordered a set of ET lugs from Summit. I'll let you know if they fit or not.

I put the Billet Specialties ET lugs on and they work fine. Just be aware - they come in 10 packs not 20. So now I have order another.

I have 1/2 inch diameter studs... Would this be a problem? Just checking.

I will contact YO.... but maybe those with the wheels might have a more objective opinion.

Thanks

I haven't checked with YO since I am a few months away from getting wheels. I checked some shop rollers and they seem to work. But you never know. I would think it should not be a problem. Would like to hear from those who actually have these wheels.

Anyone?

Has anyone seen these on a 67 A-body yet? Preferably with some 50 series tires??
