The formula was painted yesterday and I took these pictures this afternoon. The painter said he will color sand and buff in a few days, then paint the cowl, dash and rear deck. Hopefully I will have it home next Saturday. The color turned out real nice, when it's in the sunlight the red really comes out.

this color is making a comeback. I think I read it in the latest hot Rod mag. They said brown is the new black. For good reason, I think it looks great on these cars.

I'm working on interior stuff today. I have found that sandlewood interior is a bitch to restore because it's two-tone and because of the different materials such as vinyl, metal, plastic, etc...which require different paint/dye. Anyway, here is how it's looking at the moment.

Well the dash and cowl are painted but he still has not finished polishing the car. Maybe next week!

Been busy cleaning and painting the engine well and suspension stuff the last few weeks. But now it's going together. On Bill Oaxley's recommendation I used the original lacquer on the firewall and core support. I bought a cheap harbor freight spray gun and did it myself and it turned out pretty nice. On the springs, steering and brake parts I just used eastwoods stuff that I had left over from an old job. This car was never meant to be a restoration. I'm calling it a refurbishing since I set out to do the car on the cheap, and I intend to drive it like hell when done.

I don't know how long the previous owner had the chevy engine in the car, but it's powered by Pontiac again.

I am subscribed to this thread, but it's seeing and reading of all the work done, followed up by statements like this that really make me smile;
