Default My B&M mini blower project

I have seen people wanting to know if one can make these little blowers work for a pontiac,so for those interested I have posted my build with parts that were left over from old projects.I had a 174 blower laying around along with a old offy split 360 intake and decided too try it.It's currently setting on top of a junkyard 428 but i am really having a ball with this in my sleeper ventura. So far I have been 7.90 @ 90 mph with traction issues and a converter thats too tight. Can not wait till spring to install my new converter and suspension set-up and go tnt.So guys here are some pics that I think you will enjoy.Click image for larger version

You were right- thouroughly enjoyed them! That's about the nicest "built my own blower manifold" I've seen.

Thats the same manifold that I modified, they are ideal for making a blower manifold or low rise tunnel ram manifold. And fair play, you,ve done a really nice job,are you a machinist by trade?

I am interested in this project. What distributer are you using? Also, what are you using for a lower pulley/balancer? How many hours do you have in the manifold modification?
I have a 65 GTO and your set up would be cool on it.

Thanks,
Kg

Thanks guys for the compements.now to answer a few ?'s

My father taught me every thing about fab work and milling machines. He has been a mechanic and machinest for 30 years +,Since i could walk he was always showing me things and getting me involved with all his work. This still holds true today except he watches me do all the work now.

the offy split 360 is the best intake to use for fabbing a blower intake because there empty inside and rather flat across the top for welding a thick alum plate allowing you to do all the mill work needed.

The pulley set-up
B&M-blower pulley-idler pulley
Crank pulley is from a bbc that i opened the center for the crank and also drilled 4 holes to match the pontiac bolt circle on the balancer.Tgese are all 6 rib serp pullies but wish i could had went with a 10 rib desighn but nowhere could i find a belt long enough. All other pullies are stock 1969 400 pullies(wp,ps,crank)

Accel Distrib-you will have to run a small type cap like the ford have, forget about trying to run a hei-not going to happen.

I will be testing nos for the first time this summer and i can not wait to see what this little street sleeper can do.

Your set-up looks cool! A few years ago I drilled and bolted a flat plate to a bds intake. I got the 174 to make 6 psi. on my 462. Tha car was a blast to drive on the street!

Thanks 70 BIRD,I would like to do a 250 blower later on when i can find just the blower. But my crystal ball says a 8-71 in my future.Bds intake was gonna be my choice if the offy intake didn't work.Nice set-up!

You have very good fab skills, you should look into a turbo build!

Default B & M Blowers

Very nice intake, when I ran mine (174 B & M) I used their (B & M) universal adaptor for the Street Charger, it bolted to any four barrel intake. I first used an RA4 intake then after a few years I changed to a Torquer intake. The quickest I ran with the small blower set up was 10.89 at over 120 MPH that was with 6-7 lbs. of boost, a 462 ci engine, stock Factory heads and a small Hydraulic cam. The car's weight was around 3,450, it had 3.42 gears, a turbo 400 and a STOCK factory convertor. Later when I bought my tube chassie car I ran 9.48 at 2,800 lbs. The engine had (now)out of date E-heads and a solid roller. With the better breathing engine the blower could only make 3.5 lbs. of boost. I'm surprised you don't have 10 ribbed pulleys on it...................the 6 ribbed pulleys I had slipped a lot. My blower set up was pretty tall but I had no problem finding belts for it. I had the 174 blower for a very long time until I finally sold it to 70 bird, also had a 250 ................ in fact I still have it but it's rotors are damaged.
