Default Post pics of your 68-69 LeMans/Tempest - they're cool too!

Here's mine, pretty rough, long way to go. Maybe a little strange, 68 bumper on a 69 Lemans. The car had front bumper damage and I found a great deal on a 68 bumper (Thanks Steve!!). It's not easy gettin' that stuff straight and lined up. Limelight Green, 350, automatic, mild cam and Edelbrock intake/carb. Planning on a Rochester in the near future - lots of work in tuning...
I have 15" Rally wheels and going with 235/60-15 BFG or something like that.
Need some ideas and some more motivation! Gotta stay outta that loal tavern - those girls are killin' me!!
PS - I now have the new fender and the chrome bumper on it... more pics soon.

Default Here's mine!!

g- man, good luck the endura looks good to me.

Here's my Lemans. 1 of less than 8300 made in 68. Kinda feels like the GTO's little red headed step brother sometimes huh?
Being the GTO gets all the kudos.
Someday I'd like to have a 455 in mine like goatless has.
Know a guy who has one sitting but cash wise I'm a long ways off being able to do a swap. Someday perhaps,,,,,
Bought this because it was in good shape and reasonabley priced. 350, 4 spd and 12 bolt posi were all very attractive too. Wanted a car that I could drive immediately and work on a little at a time. so far so good.

Sorry I don't have a more recent photo- haven't taken any recently.

Good luck with the car G-,man!!

Default Hell yes they're cool!

You know for as much crap as I get for it not being a GTO, I sure don't care! It's fast, fun, and it didn't cost near as much as a GTO would have.

Thumbs up how true

Jury,

good points. Mine would've easily been 2-3 times as much as I paid for it if it was a GTO.
I'll live with the 350 for now. Soulnds good moves right along and since it's a convertable it's pretty much a ball whenever the suns out.

Take care!!

techteacher:

I have a 69 GTO, but if I had your LeMans I'd drive it proudly and never EVER look back. Absolutely sweet. Love the chrome bumper, and LOVE the color (my goat is destined for the same color). I almost bought a 68 endura-delete GTO, I even rented a trailer and left to drive to TN to go get it, but blew out my transmission on my truck before I even got out of town. Didn't make the trip, and found my 69 in the mean-time.

LOVE THE RALLY I's - totally badass. My only regret with having a 69 is that it wouldn't look right with the Rally I's.. *sigh*. Grass is always greener, I guess.

Talking 69 Custom S Pics

O.K. - This is my first attempt at posting pics. This is my 69 Custom S.
I bought it a year ago in Wyoming. This is the unrestored car - just a few
bolt ons that I preferred over the granny look. I bought it from the
second owner, and it was still in the little town that it was originally
bought in. It only had 1 repaint and is very straight and rust free, as the
climate is very dry in central WY, and they don't salt the roads.

Red face

Here it was in Granny trim...

I flew there to pick it up and then drove it 1000 miles home. I drove 75 - 80 mph all
the way and got 18 mpg. It didn't use a drop of oil, as it was a 64,000 original mile
car. Gotta love these old Pontiacs!

Thumbs up kind words

Thank you Chris for the comments. The color combo gets lots of compliments. For a 20+ year old repaint it still looks good. couple issues. no biggies though. I'm kinda digging the rally ones more and more, as I just don't see them on many pontiacs, don't get me wrong love the five spoke rally 2's but it's neat being different too.

Thanks again- Howard

Thumbs up Nice color

Vrroom- nice paint! sure to get attention, good luck on finishing soon so you can enjoy it.

Yakker- I like the 68 bumper and grilles and wheels too!! Kinda messes w/ the viewer seeing 69 turn signals and 68 bumper!!! Way cool though, Didn't catch it at first- I was thinking that bumper was REAL shiney for a granny mobile!!

Wish the hell they didn't salt our raods there'd still be decent cars around in parts yards instead of rust buckets

Good luck with future improvements!!

OHC6man where you at? your daily driver looks pretty nice man!! Palm tree says SOUTH. ;-)
I'm tempted to move south just so I can SEE a rust free car LOL

Howard

Thanks Howard. Your car is a real beauty. I really like the chorme bumpers. I like being a little different as well.

Yes, the mismatched front end is intentional. I just wanted to use the combination of parts that I thought
would look good (to me). You can do this on a non-GTO and not lose any sleep. The 68 bumper is just more
trim and sleek looking, and coupled with the 69 GTO valance and parking lamps, it will really make my car
different. I have never seen one done like this. Piecing together all the parking lamp parts is expensive!
I don't think they could have designed them to use any more components! The rims are custom offset
Torq Thrust CL205's (basically a TT2 with a gray center). It will be out of the paint shop in two weeks, so I
will post more pics then.

Kudos to G-Man for starting this thread I was hoping someone would start one just for us. Great idea.

Vroom - Great looking car. Looks like a hot wheel car with the way the rims and tires are - really cool!

Wink Thanks

Yakker,

I really like the look you've achieved with the combo you've chosen. IMO the 68 bumper is WAY sleeker then the 69 in a lemans or tempest. The 69 chrome looks more like a bonnie or big pontiac bumper. Just my opinion no insults ment to those who like em they way they came from the factory.

Hoping to gte mine running better this week or next. Timing issues that I can't fix and need to get my car into my bud's shop.

Take cre guys and send more pics when you get them.

Howard
