The pictures make the Judge look a lot nicer that it is. It is just a driver with an early 80's repaint. It needs a full restoration. 49k is about fair market value for that car with the RAV. Personally I was going to put the original engine back in the Judge and sell the RAV stuff outright. None of the cars had been started in 10 years and no one from the estate knew the condition of any of the engines. I don't know if stole is the correct term, more like a gamble. I didn't want to step on the toes of my buddy who was negotiating, he gambled with his offer and lost.

I would not call it a gamble at $25k.

A set of V heads and intake is worth in the neighborhood of $10K or more. A guy at Norwalk wanted 7-9K just for a set of heads.

To me if the engine has the heads and intake, that's good enough. To find a complete V motor is a tall order and bordering on impossible...but not impossible. The last complete V I saw sold for $25K, And I don't think it had the correct carb.

I personally haven't heard of a set of heads and intake for 10k in probably 10 years or more.

Right now, on this site, someone is asking $14K for a set of V heads and NOS intake but is open to offers. Bet ya he'd take 10-12K.

Default Ram Air VI

After numerous e-mails phone calls and pics without raising too much suspicion I was almost certain this block was something special, we all knew the top end was V stuff but the big gamble was the bottom end. The transfer lug in the back of the block usually means it`s a large journal block. The 545 casting number by the oil filter housing is not your typical 69 Ram III or IV casting but is in order with other V numbers. The large number 3 and 1096 by the distributor is something I have only seen on High nickel 428 splayed main cap 428 Ram Air VI blocks. The problem as we all know is the engine was together in the car running so the splayed 4 bolt caps the extra reinforcing in the lifter and main`s area could not be seen for confirmation even the large distributor hole could not be seen. So I took the gamble and pulled the trigger at 49K drove right out to St Louis negotiated the price down to 47K due to numerous fit and finish items and could not wait to get it home and pull out the distributor. The distributor will not come out, it can only be lifted up approx. 1/4" but that was enough to see the sleeve in the block they used to install a 73 Unitized Dist. the pin must have come off that holds the sleeve onto the dist. so now the sleeve is stuck in the block and will not allow the large dist gear to pass by. Check out Wallace racing online under Arnie`s Stash and you will see the same 1096 and the 3 by the dist. Look on page 219 of Pete`s book and the block in this Judge was cast on the same day 6/30/69 as the one in Pete`s book. Looks like my gamble paid off. I know of only one other of these blocks anyone know of others? Check out the pics I will post more if requested. Thanks KC

I am still in awe about this find! How many of these blocks where made or hard to tell? Apparently Arnie Beswick had three of them and they would handle 1800-2000hp.
Does anyone know if the Boss Bird has one of these blocks in it now?

If I remember the blower blocks were diff from the VI block.I have seen one in person and they are heavier than anything I have seen. The VI block came in diff versions im told by Nunzi.Would be interesting when Ken gets the pan off and see if it has the angle caps.He still hit the lottery no matter what version he has.Another example where money talks and BS walks.Tom
