Default 68 GTO LED Dash Lighting

I currently have my entire Dash and the dash components removed awaiting a new Dash Harness and new printed circuit board.

I plan on replacing all the number 194 bulbs and the remaining bulbs since all are over 50 years old. I am seeking input from anyone that has replaced the 194 with an LED bulb.
Is the LED illumination better? Is it worth the added expense?
If the LED bulbs are installed, are there any other electrical requirements needed to ensure proper operation?

1968 GTO Factory A/C, AM/FM Stereo Radio, Rallye Clock, Dash lights without gauges.
