Default '05 GTO Worth - 13K Miles

Looking to trade a '70 Z28 RS to a friend for his '05 GTO. Here's the low down on it:

13,100 miles
6 speed with B&M shifter
SLP headers/exhaust
Performance cam kit added
Cold air intake
Z06 clutch
Black with black leather

Car is perfect and always kept in a heated garage. Belongs to a 66 year old guy who has had the car 4 years and only put 500 miles on it. He's also the one that put the performance stuff on it so it's not been driven hard.

Best case, I might get $16,000 - $18,000 for the Camaro. Figure this car will be easier to sell since it might target a bigger audience and since it's so nice. Seems like these go on ebay for $18,000 - 20,000. Seem about right?

Not planning on keeping it?

One will continue to go down in value, while the other (even though it's a chevy) will be going up.

I bought the Camaro for a song from a guy needing money in a bad way. Don't drive my 65 now and needing the money to redo the motor in the race car. Thinking the GTO might bring more than the Camaro.

Exactly what I was thinking. I don't follow the new GTO market, so I don't know whether it would be easier to sell the Camaro or the GTO.

New GTO's bottomed out this Summer and are just now going back up. But, now you are into the end of car season which hurts the value. With that said for some reason, 05s have the least value of the three years it seems. I follow them quite a bit and I've seen guys try and give away 05s and they can't. Low miles helps as does the M6 but I would say 18,000 at the high end if you can find a buyer for it. I wouldn't pay much more than 17 for it. Just too many cars out there, especially if you are willing to travel a bit. I paid 19 for my 06, M6, similar mods, basically perfect condition. Even trade? Take it!

It will be an even trade. The nice part is I got the Camaro for $10,000 needing a little work to get it going again. Had been redone 10 years ago and just sat. I figure I'd have to keep the Camaro til spring to get top dollar for it but might be able to sell the GTO now for better money since someone may look at is as a daily driver type car. The Camaro is not numbers matching which hurts it some. It also needs some more cosmetic work done and a few mechanical things that I really don't have the time for. The GTO needs nothing but sold if I get it.

Need to get some pics Chris. Test drove the GTO today. Man, that thing runs. Even sounds real healthy(not like a newer car) with the exhaust and big cam. Broke the tires loose at 40. Really surprised me. I'm up for the trade. It's up to him at this point. Took the Z28 out for a drive this afternoon. It doesn't compare performance wise, but it sure looks way better and has the old school performance feel with the Muncie 4 speed and LT-1 solid cam motor. If the trade doesn't go through, considering keeping the Z28 and doing some work on it. Post some pics up soon.
