You were right about the smile! I finally took it out for a drive Friday. It suprised me how quickly it builds boost. The first time that it built boost I wasn't expecting it. I shifted out of first into second and kinda rolled into the pedal some. Probably around half pedal when the tires broke loose so I let off. Whooooossh! It was building around 5lbs already. I cruised around for a while not trying not to beat on it cause it hasn't had any tuning and I'm not sure about the timing. But....on the way home I had to see! Rolling along in second gear about 40mph I just punched it to the floor once then let off when it got there. My buddy said it showed about 9lbs on the gauge. I was too busy steering!

Tom

Don't want to sound as if I know it all, but when we pulled off the Spintech mufflers from the 73 turbo TA because they wouldn't pass DE inspection (needed 97 decibels and they were 101 at 2000 rpm), we went in search for a replacement and did a lot of reading on here. Came across Tom Hand's reports on testing he had done with many different mufflers.

He compared them to 3" straight pipe to determine percentage of flow, and we decided to go with the Goerlich Xlerator because they flowed 97% of what a straight 3" pipe does according to him.

He told me that the Spintechs only flowed 78% of the straight pipe. Obviously less back pressure on a turbo system is important. Just thought I'd pass what I was told along.

Mean.......the car sounds GREAT! Welcome to the turbo Pontiac club...a small but potent group!

Thanks guys! I have to build something respectable to hang out here. You guys have some bad#ss cars! George, I'm like a boost junkie now! Lol!

When I built my exhaust the plan was to run 5" past the transmission, then split it to dual 3 1/2" pipes. I got tired of waiting so I built my exhaust with the 5" pipe past the transmission then it necks down to 4" all the way out the back.

I had a problem with my phone and wasn't able to post pictures from it. Probably was too old! Lol! Here is what I did for exhaust so far.
