Default ALMOST READY !!!!

Spent a few hours in Richie Hoffman's shop today. we are waiting on some bolts and spacers for the belt guard. All should arrive this week.....I must say, out of all the parts that went into this engine build, the BILLET SPECIALTIES accessory drive system (TRU-TRAC) went on the motor with absolutely no problem...fit like a glove !!!!! We will fire the motor up next week Here are a couple of pics...Also Thanks again to everyone in the "boost dept." for your help and advice!!!. ERIC

Nice, very nice!! I love the way the all of accessories mount down low below the valve cover line. It draws your eye to the blower and not the alternator like some setups do. One question though, what are your plans for the upper radiator hose? Looks like the stat housing is in line with the alternator.

Blown...that is a concern. I took a close up, and some measurements. I think I can get a hose in there! It's kinda funny, that's a chevy T'stat housing...if it doesn't fit a hose, I will have to make a custom one...Eric...................2" straight-45* upbend--3"straight45* to level--4"straight---90* forward (to front of car) bend...home free to the radiator.

Maybe you could have some stainless tubing bent to get you past the alternator. Add some mounting tabs and maybe an air bleed at the highest point. Also remember that the radiator filler should be your highest point in the cooling system.

Often times you can mount a filler elsewhere. You are correct though it needs to be at highest point. You can buy thermostat housing adapters with a filler cap on them. Sometimes a little fab work to mount them elsewhere is easiest way. Standard type cap can still stay on the radiator. Other ways include using an expansion tank like the old Fords used.

Blown and Bruce, I figured on fabbing an upper hose out if stainless....maybe with those heat shrink clamps (gotta see how well they seal). I know I will need some flex somewhere in the "hose"....possibly near the radiator. I might do the lower the same way....I'll figure something out! THANKS AS ALWAYS, Eric

Default another option

we did this on a friends Blown firebird. deleted the cross over. crossed over in the back. and did -12 inlet and return off the front of the block. gos in on the Pass. side returns from the drivers. As far as I know no overheat issues, does street/strip duty mid 10's. he runs alum. radiator and welded in the -12 fittings. can also be done with adapters to a regular radiator.

Eric,

Great job packaging the drive system, the car and the motor look awesome. There is a lot of thinking and a heck of a lot of engineering going on there. You picked a great guy to work with when you enlisted Richie. A true gentleman and a true racer.

Can you do me a favor can you take a picture of the front of your core support and email it to me. I am looking to see if the 66/67 core support has provisions (stock holes) to bolt a set of heat exchangers to.

Thanks,

Herb

Got some wiring, and some plumbing done.....AND I got the clearance between the blower cogs/belt and the fans that I needed 3/4"....... And I mocked up an upper radiator hose. I will have one made of stainless and use rubber couplers on the ends. Eric
