Default Just got a TA - 78 S/E

I have always liked black cars and have always wanted to own a 78 WS6 4Sp S/E car someday. Recently I found out about a #'s matching S/E 4sp for sale. It is a bit more of a project than I would like, but it is a car I had hoped to find at some point. Over the weekend I was fortunate enough to be able to pick it up. The next job it to find room in the garage

Nice car. Interesting molded in fender flares front and rear.

Good luck with it, I got one 2 years ago also needing a few things, and we’re working on the wiring in the dash now. Mine is automatic with black interior.

I started out with a 43k mile original paint never rusted car that needed a lot of small mechanical and detail stuff done to it to get it up to standards. For the most part it's completed after 4 years.

All - Thanks for the welcome. Looking forward to rebuilding/Restoring my S/E. Wish it was like Firedup6975 and 77Canamman where it was less of of project, but I'll take it. I just have to remember to pace myself and remember this isn't a short term project.

Douglas - The previous owner was real serious about the flares. I've seen a lot where people put on some spats backward to get the same effect, but these are a combination of metal and fiberglass that were meant to be permanent. Unfortunately it means I will probably need to replace the fenders and quarters to get it back to stock which is where I am going with it.

4dblnkldude - Brakes - Check. Carb - well that is in the trunk along with the intake! So might need a little more than a gas and go, but I hear ya. I'm dying to hear it run and Shift some gears in it.

Nice car, have fun with that. It even has original WS6 handling package wheels. those are a one year only wheel, 78.

I like the flares. It would look killer with some widened snowflakes. Maybe 15x10 on all 4 corners?

Nice T/A!

Nice... Allot of interest in Day 2 cars and for that era, this is it!! I'm surprised there isn't custom paint with graphics but my vote is get some wide wheels / tires on it like the Herb Adams Silver Bird and head down the road!!!

I'm surprised at the amount of interest there has been about the wheel flares as when I first saw them my first questions was "Why???". But I have to admit that the look is growing on me and if this was not a numbers matching 78 Y84 4speed I may be tempted to do a Fire Am Tribute or something like that and keep them on there and put some wider tires or some with a wider offset on. But the car will be getting a complete restoration with a focus on originality as it is a rare car. So the flares will be coming off in the near future.

FrankieT/A - yes those are the original 1 year only wheels which are really unique and I like the look of them a lot.

My thoughts would be...to look it over carefully. If the flares are solid and well done, leave them alone, at least for a while, or maybe until you get everything else done first.

If there's cracks or the workmanship looks shoddy from underneath, I'd place that item(s) or repair closer to the top

Regardless of the flares, you have something fairly good to start with!!!
