Default Question about rear wheel size/backspacing/tire size

If I put 255/60-15 BF tires on a 67 GTO, what would be the best width...7" or 8", and how much backspacing??? 4.5? I was thinking about getting some Cragars. And for the front I would want 15"x7's for sure...wonder what size tire for front. I like the wide rear and narrower front look. Any pics, or comments would be awesome, thanks

I have the exact same question so I thought I'd bring this post back.

I want to use 15x7 Rally II wheels with a 4 1/4" backspace. will it work? looks like it would be close.

Bringing this old thread back, looking for help.
I looking for the maximum rear width tire size I can fit without modding the fender lip using a Wheel Vintiques 15x8 Rally I with a 5" back space.

Thanks

I have 17x8 with 255/45 17 on all 4 corners with 5.5" back space. Stock width 67 rear...no fitment issues, no rubbing, wheel well lips are not modified. The front has 12" Baer discs on B body spindles. I can't say if that changes the front track width or not, but if it does it can't be by much.

I recommend using an online wheel & tire fitment calculator such as WillTheyFit.com. Enter your current wheel & tire specs, then enter your desired wheel & tire specs, and it will show you how/where the dimensional fitment will change. You can then take that info and look at your car to determine if you will have clearance issues.
