When I was growing up we had a poodle we got from some relatives. He was maybe 4 years old when we got him (he lived to 19). He was a medium sized poodle. He was the most defensive dog I have ever seen. He had no training. If a stranger knocked on the door, his only thought was taking out that person! He would literally come unglued! I'm sure that mountain lion could eat him too, but it would have been a hell of a fight!!!

It wouldn’t have been that big a fight - mountain lions are huge. One killed, dragged, and partially buried a full grown man out here in Orange County years ago.

There was a front page pic here a few years ago. Hunter was out hunting cat. Had a tag. Turned out a cat was hunting him. He turned around and hip shot a well over 200 pound (huge) one, that was mid air 6 feet away, flying at him.

Also a few years ago, a group of about 20 grade school kids were out on a hike with a few adults. TWO cats started stalking them from behind. They would take opposite sides of path, zig zig and cross behind them. They were only kept at bay by throwing rocks and yelling, but they stalked under 100 feet behind for a couple miles like that.

I worry about Griz, but they are not out hunting you. Cats are, and they are 100% carnivores, unlike bear.

Good watch cat, if you can get him in your car without tearing it up.

Pitty the fool that tried to steal your car without looking in the back seat. Ha

Mountain Lions are usually very shy, and don't normally stalk humans. (The one in Orange County that I referenced was one of those "crazy" animals that was acting unusually - and was therefore hunted down and killed afterwards.) It was a mountain biker who was changing a tire, and it's thought that the lion mistook him for prey while he was bent over. If mountain lions hunted humans, there'd be hundreds of deaths a year in Orange County alone.

Heck, some guy got attacked by a black bear in the LA mountains recently.

That one pictured, as I said, is behaving very unusually being close to civilization during the day. It's one to keep an eye out for.

damn! beautiful cat, but that looks to be 130lbs. No dog 1 on 1 would stand a chance. Dogs have teeth, the cat has teeth and claws.

You don't see them until it is too late!! I was hiking and climbing in Utah a few years back and came across a large set of fresh prints....definitely got my attention! Never saw the cat but I'll bet he/she saw me!

No, they eat whatever they want. Poodles are just a light snack.
