Default 70 gto endura paint removal

So Ive read some threads about this. The guy doing my body/paint is about to start the nose. 4 coats of paint with some cracking but not bad. We were talking about paint removal options and i thought i would check here first. Sounds like no chemical type of removal. And sand blasting or soda blasting is the best way to go? I have both of those options open to me.

Many here have said sand blasting. It won't harm the rubber since it just bounces off.

I saw that and Im surprised. I would of thought sand blasting would rough up or tear up the rubber but I guess not. Without reading here that you can sandblast I probably would of never experimented with that,

If you media blast please let us know how it works out. I have heard in the past that soda blasting was the only way to do it. I used sandpaper on mine. Took quite a while.

Have had quite a bit plastic media blasted, worked well on 70's & 80's budget repainted endura noses.

I suppose if you know what your blasting and take precautions the results can be successful, but I have seen t/a fender extractors ruined by media blasting.

We used to always use regular chemical (airplane) paint stripper and never had a problem other than it was very messy and therefore time consuming. However, times have changed an soda blasting seems to work like a charm these days.

I’ve successfully sandblasted 4 Endura bumpers using
fine sand. The rubber can definitely be damaged if you’re not careful. Start at a lower pressure and increase it until the old material is removed. Shoot off normal in a sweeping pattern and keep moving to prevent over heating the Endura. I personally think it does a better job than sanding.

I used crushed glass, 60 grit, worked great.

Wash with soap and water after blasting, rinse with clean water, dry for a day, then SPI epoxy, then flex epoxy repair, then more epoxy for block sanding.

Thanks for the responses. He's checking with a guy that supposed to have a soda blaster. If not I guess we'll carefully sand blast it. Follow some of procedures I've read,,, obviously you guys have alot more experience with this than we do. Don't want to mess up the nose and make more work for ourselves.
