What's is the criteria for this?

Order date, Data plate date? Invoice date? Build sheet date?

Then, there's the whole delivery date thing?

I assume since this is a original family car. They have all the documentation.
I would use Invoice date as the day of birth. The other dates are related to conception and gestation in my opinion.

Looks like this one is the last one built....until another one comes along.

Someday, Alexa is going to get ahold of all the PHS data an then all this stuff can be data mined to our heart's content. That would be cool to see.

Appears to me as AF 138 ?

Most 71 Pontiac cowl tags didn't have anything there, so it must have meant something?

I think you are right AF 128

I also think I have it figured out.

In the paint chart Mike posted somewhere is the clue.

I'd say the paint code is AF 128 for the Judge.

Hand on front fender is current owner. Green t-shirt is EXTREMELY knowledgeable GTO collector who has been documenting car. Had a conflict for me not arisen, I too would have been pushing that car out of storage.

Interesting tidbit - one of our club members is also an extremely knowledgeable and decades experienced GTO collector who just happened past this scene as it was unfolding. He was on his way to his cabin that he's had for more than 40 years. He saw car out of corner of his eye and turned around to get a better look. At our last monthly meeting, he offered that he had driven past the garage in which this car was stored more than 1100 times and had never seen the car or the garage door open.

Gents,

I have many pictures provided to me early this year of things including: the original Dealer Invoice (dated May of 1971). original dealer invoice packet, interior, exterior, undercarriage, engine bay, etc.... However, I am not the owner and, therefore, I will not share them. It is up to the owner to decide what he wishes to share and when. I will, however, provide a couple of pictures of the car in hibernation as they do not give anything away about location and/or current ownership.

You'll notice that the car was somewhat "hidden" by other items. That was by design to prevent prying eyes from coming to the house to ask about the car anytime that the door had been opened. Smart!

Attached are 3 photos:
  • One with different angle of Data Plate (posting now as owner had already posted initial image that you're analyzing. This should put to rest how it reads).
  • Two showing car in "hibernation" - in it's natural habitat for the past 30+ years.

Enjoy...

I can provide a tad more detail as to paint. Upon examination (removal of seat, pulling back of carpet, etc) orbit orange overspray is found, consistent with factory applied paint. There are no traces of other colors anywhere. Original carpeting, with clear tags are seen. Nothing to indicate other than factory applied everything. This appears to be legit.

You answered your own question: It's the one with the latest build date.

Wow! Such a cool story and amazing car! There hasn’t been this much excitement in the Judge forum since Larry (fvgramps) joined and shared his original owner Lucy Blue 71 Judge Vert and we got to follow its restoration and see it at the 2009 CoVention.

As BVZ pointed out, even the side stripes on this one got special ordered as the Pinky stripes were the norm on OO. It will be so cool to get to see the PHS and Build Sheet on this car. I agree with Diego, the cowl tag pretty much confirms it as the last one built until another later one turns up.

Looking forward to future posts on this one. This car also needs to make the trip to MCACN this year - maybe even as part of the Barn Find display. That would be cool.

BJ

Mike, it's just lighting and the Orbit Orange paint playing tricks on you. Seriously.

Has the car changed hands? Is the owner of the last 30 years still the owner or has it been purchased?
