Default Nitro-Methane Injection

Is there such a thing practiced?

I think it may work well as BOOST. If my GTO runs 12.0 on 89 Octane and is all low RPM "labor" , seems to me "Nitro" would have a dramatic HP increase.

Load sensitive stuff.

As in addition to your carb system?

Nitro very susceptible to leaning out and blowing things up.
Would have to make sure it was at full throttle opening and not be too lean.
Takes a LOT of Nitro in comparison to gasoline.

If being used as the sole source for fuel and driving around, no it wouldn't work.

Well yes because of the nitro mix!
......and of course it’s under load, that’s why a person would add the nitro.

Are you talking about a Nitromethane additive to water-methanol injection?

Not looking to mix in the gasoline tank.

Asking about injecting barrel-valve style, triggered by low vacuum ( under severe load).

Point being is that if you spray nitro in your engine and don’t get creative with your fuel you WILL melt something.

Without acetone? Gasoline and CH3NO2 will not mix without acetone.

If not you ran gas, then 100% Nitro. Lucky you just melted a piston and head.

A guy I street raced with ran nitro in a stock looking and sounding (until he switched fuel) Big block wedge Mopar D100 Truck. Made incredible power on the sauce. Had twin fuel systems. Nobody could figure out how it ran so fast. I just asked straight up My best guess was he's running Nitro. He took me to the side and since I figured it out he'd tell me what was up. Everyone thought he had a hidden n2o system nobody could find. He'd just say nope.

I ran an acetone pre mix of CH3NO2 in my wife's 88 turbo AWD Celica. It was only a quart of the mix, was worth .1 to .2 at the local drag strip. Better on cold nights with the intercooler iced down. They sold the pre mix at the speed shop and was made in Kennedale by the local 1/8th mile track.

good times

Nitro doesn't mix with water either.
But it does mix with methanol!

It is slightly soluble in water.

Sprint car guys at local track were known to run a methanol nitro blend. This was during late 70s into late 80s.

This was what I ran. They have not made it in years. I always tried different fuels so I could run high compression on the street. I ended up running toluene most because it worked and could be sourced at any hardware store.

I went to Summit Racing yesterday and saw klotz nitro. It appears to be a Nitropropane mix. It might be worth a shot to try and inject with a mix of methanol or gas.

The straight Nitro on the right or one of the mixes? I ran the Max race stuff all the time in the celica at 20+ lbs of boost. And a couple of times in a daily driver bone stock 305 camaro just to see if it would pick up anything. I picked up a little but not like it did with the turbo 4.

That's what I used. It has acetone in it and should have mixed with the gas.

Hate to hear you had a bad experience with it.
