I live south of town and we didn't even get rain. Closest tornado hit was about 10 miles from me.
Mike was right in the path, spent time in his basement and didn't get any damage.
Several tornadoes came thru (I don't think they know for sure how many yet) and they were the kind that hit & skip instead of the kind that mow a huge swath.
Lots of damage but so far as they know, the amount of injuries was relatively low. Reports of several folks trapped in basements under damaged homes.

I heard about this yesterday morning on the Sirius XM news;
I had no idea that Ohio ever got tornados;
Is tornados in Ohio abnormal?

Tornadoes in Ohio are not unusual but are rarely as massive and devastating as the ones Sunday night. The typical scenario is to have ONE small tornado (EF-1 or -2) that hits and skips a few places and then disappears. This episode was unique in that there were several that came back-to-back, most were EF-3 (maybe higher) and there was a prolonged 2-hour period where we had to stay glued to the TV to know when to take shelter.

The last massive one was Xenia Ohio in 1974.

Eric - thanks for informing me of this.

I've been the the area twice;
Once for the Trans Am Nationals (north of Dayton), and once for the Pontiac Nationals (Norwalk).
