Default What's up with this inner fender liner?

Needed to replace the right side inner fender liner and I've already disposed of the old one. The one pictured has two factory installed nutserts, I know the old one didnt have it.

Has anyone seen one like this? My original liners only have holes, the bolts pass through from underneath (so the end of the bolt faces up).

Considering looking for another one.

I wondered if that was the case but I couldn't seem to find a picture of a 64-65

Not a 65. I have mine apart right now. No weld nuts there, just holes.

It is possible that style attachment was used for another GM A body car? Perhaps a Chevelle or an Olds F85 or a Buick special/Skylark.

When I bought it they said GTO/Lemans but I agree it may be wrong. I will do some more research. Perhaps it doesn't matter but I would like it to be correct.

Your RH fender skirt (inner fender) is all of 1964 and about the first half of 1965.

First two pics are 1964 and the third pic is an early Nov. build 65.

About February of the 65 model the sheet metal screws came up into a speed nut clipped to the tangs on the fender. Last two photos show a Feb. and March of this style.

Chris.

Wow Chris, thank you very much for providing that info! I guess I can put it back up for sale or maybe drill out the threads so it can be assembled the correct way for my year.

Wow Chris. I am amazed with the detailed knowledge. Mystery solved. Mine was built at the end of June of 65.
