Default '67 Original Trunk Mat

Curious if anyone else has an original trunk mat like this one? It has a cut-out for the recessed area in the trunk floor for the lug wrench to lay in. Also, my lug wrench has a short plastic sleeve that I assume was to keep it from rattling on the floor? Looks like the reproduction mats don't have this cut-out.

Thanks,
Grant

I have a sleeve that holds the jack and the wrench...don't remember where I got it or if it's even for an A body. It's been sitting in the barn for a looong time.

I personally have never seen a mat cut in that manor??

The Rubber sleeve for the post started in '67.
The one shown below is OE and in my '66 (Because I liked it)
but was salvaged from a low mile '67.

That extra long sleeve for the jack post makes for a nice anti-rattle fix.
The shorter sleeve around your lug wrench is what I'm used to seeing.

My '67 still had it's original mat in it when I got the car and it was not cut out like that, it did and still does have the long sleeve for the jack though.

Interesting, I don't recall ever seeing that long jack post sleeve on any of my past '67s, but I suppose they get tossed in many cases.

You must have a Chevelle mat then, was the car in question made at one of the Chevy plants?

Yes, they built both in Fremont. Being a late '67 build, they probably just used what they had available.

Both of my original 67 sleeves (Blue GTO and the Cruiser) were shorter and both the jack post and the tire iron are in the sleeve. I don't have the original mat, but believe I would remember had it been cut out that large.

I still have the original trunk mat that was in my '67 GTO, built at the Pontiac plant, it is not cut out like that.

I have a feeling that they simply ran out of the GTO mats and this Chevelle mat was used as an alternative when Fremont built this car in late June of '67. It would be interesting to hear from others with their original trunk mats that have a late June built '67 A-Body from the Fremont plant.
