WTB - Modified dual snorkel air cleaner
I know this probably a longshot but does anyone have a modified dual snorkel air cleaner assembly that is modified to sit on a Holley carb? Or does anyone know how to easily modify it? My buddy has a 70 lemans he would like to put it on, instead of a regular parts store 14" bull crap one. Would be good if it was all black, no chrome lid, he hates chrome. I just figured I'd post this before we butcher up a re-pop one.

How does it need to be modified to fit a Holley?

Are you doing a 4150 or 4500? I built a dual snorkel for my 4150 quickfuel. I just modified my 76 Air cleaner assembly. I also found myself some of the cylindrical cone air cleaner. I like the looks of the 455 ho air cleaner.

Where did you find the air filter? Been looking for a cone style for the TA.

Check this thread. https://forums.maxperformanceinc.com...ght=Wfo+airaid Been so long ago.
https://www.airaid.com/concept I would have to measure mine or find part numbers. I just took my lid and cut it for the top. Sit nicely inside the shaker. I do have the bigger one, but not gonna use if your interested.

The part number on the one I bought that I'm using is 801-452 and the spare one that I have that I would sell is 801-456.

I built one and will sell it to you. It has a aftermarket drop base and will fit a holley.

I'd think a used one could be had cheaper than a repop. I know the service replacement 71-72 'Ram Air' air cleaners clear a holley - but never tried fitting any other factory air cleaner on top of a Holley.

Man, I'm learning alot in this thread! So if we cant get a used one and he orders a repop he should order one for a 70-72 GTO/Lemans?

Can’t say whether or not the Repop will fit, never used one. I can only speak from my experience with the 70 to 72 GTO dual snorkel. The Firebird 400 dual snorkels of the same years have a drop base that may not work. Those are easy to identify, they have a indentation in the back of the base to clear the distributor. Check out the picture for reference.

Correct, the factory 2nd Gen bases (both T/A & Formula) are 1 1/2" drop & the center area will not clear the bowls on a center hung Holley. Have restored several early 2nd Gen T/A & Formula bases that previous owners hacked on to clear the center hung bowls of their Holley. On a '70 Pontiac A-body my suggestion would be to buy the PartsPlace dual snorkle 70-72 GTO repo. Nice clean originals tend to run more $$$.
