I wasn't sure where to post that.. The Acadian was introduced to give Pontiac dealers something similar to the Tempest. Can we assume it's a Pontiac?
![]() Question is; I found a 1965 Canso. Pretty good shape but missing the drivetrain. I have 1965 #62 heads, and I know where the matching 326 block is. Now, how much work would be involved by putting a Pontiac block in a Canso?? They came with Chevy blocks. People are not very familiar with those cars... Thanks |

1965 Acadian Canso. Beaumont's little brother.
Anybody on the board have a Pontiac V8 in a 65-67 Nova?

Here in the Detroit area, I've never seen a Beaumont or Acadian with a Pontiac V8 installed. The Canadian Pontiacs are the only Ponchos that SHOULD have orange between the front fenders. I'd be looking for a strong-running Chevy small block; a 350 should be much easier and cheaper to locate and purchase than a vintage Pontiac 326, 389, or 421.
However, if you're really set on putting Pontiac iron in the front of your Canso, I'd guess that any first gen Firebird mounting hardware will work to install a Pontiac V8 into that car. You may need to do some fabrication work to get the frame mounting brackets in the correct placement. |

Head stagger is different from the chevy so may require extensive firewall work. Those cars were made for a chevy big block imo

Even the 1962-67 Novas/Chevy IIs had to use a special oil pan to install into this chassis. I love Pontiac V8s, but I just dont see one going into this car very easily. A 283/327 would be a much easier fit.

Don't think the 66-67 need the pan as they came from the factory with a small block. Earlier 1's need a special pan. If memory serves right the steering x-link went thru the pan.
