I like factory spoilers best. I can appreciate that when a Formula owner checked that 455HO box, and that he could stop himself from checking the M-22, Posi, Handling, Formula wheel, spoiler...

In addition to that. Sorry, to interject in thread.

I really like the new addition to the rear of that Formula!

Regarding the Formula model, seeing that the twin scooped hood is rather aggressive, the rear should have something there to balance out the front.

While I like to keep these cars original, this car was not optimally optioned out when new. The column shifter is another thing that will change, whether I choose to convert to manual trans or just add the console and keep the TH400. My girlfriend wants to drive this car, and is pressuring me to keep the auto.

There is absolutely nothing more that says "grandma" on a car like this than a column shifter. It should have never been available on this era F body. I also demand a tilt column, so I must change it.

Also, this car had the ugly baby moon caps once upon a time. The Rallys are staying on it.

While this car is an unusual piece, I found it rather unexciting and bland. Rare does not always equate to desirable.

you say "bland", I say "sleeper"

column shift, no spoiler, base wheels - just need to swap on a set of "Formula 350" badges, and the disguise would be complete!!

lol

I agree that the column shift seems out of place;
as I recall, the console was a suggested item for cars with an optional automatic, and the console, or lack thereof which kept the shifter on the column became standard fare for 1975 on the Formula and Trans Am models.

I disagree that column shift says "grandma". It actually says "Great-Grandma".

I can say from personal experience (72 F400 column shift) that many hot rod people who don't "know" will think you have a modded base bird or Esprit, and think yours a fake, with the column slopper, I mean shifter.

It is one of the "forgivable" mods that will never hurt value. The subtraction for non original is still less than the added value of a floor shift. Win, win.

Want to know how valuable your column shift is? Try to sell it after you pull it. hahaha....

Of course that is one that should never be changed! Historical rare cars of that caliber, or RAIV, or SD should of course be left alone.

Since both horns are hopelessly dead, what are the best OEM appearing and fitting ones available?

I'd suggest finding good used ones.

they will look correct and attach properly.

I used a guy who repaired corvette horns , about 15 years ago. I dont have any of his info, but that might be a place to start ( corvette horn restorations) since originals, that work, are tough to find.

I am pretty sure a member here posted a couple pictures of his horn "collection" - I'd wager a member might have some...

there's a set here:
https://www.frankspontiacparts.com/u...tiacparts2.htm
(I just don't off hand know what might make 1973 Firebird hornss unique from any others.)

There's three more here:
https://www.frankspontiacparts.com/u...iacpartsp3.htm

and three more here:

here's the thread I mentioned if you want to take a crack at repairing them. Really not too bad imo.
