Maybe your horn relay is shot. Can you post a photo of how you put the wire and plunger together with that 3196 hub? When it gets a bit warmer.

I've been playing around with mine and I think there's something missing out of the the box it came in. The bag with the important parts was opened up so it's hard to tell what's supposed to be in it, and if anything is missing.

I have a grant wheel on my 66 and I had to drill an additional hole in the wheel to get the cancel cam to work. I don't recall what kit I have. Also, my logo is not right on the arrowhead and it makes me nuts. Grant customer service was useless. Also, I had to do some rigging with the horn button because the stuff that they supply in the kit is useless.

So after reading through this im confused. Ive got a 67' GTO. Im looking to install a grant 1178 wheel. The adapter kit I bought was the 3162 because that's what Grant said to buy?

-Are we concluding that the 3196 install kit works better than the recommended 3162 but we need still need to drill an extra hole in the steering wheel to make the turn signal cams work? After the hole is drilled, things should work fine?

-Also the Pontiac horn button is going to need to either be modded to work correctly or have the sticker pulled and refastened in the correct clocked location?

-WTF??!!??!!

Yep, Nick, you need the 3196 kit because it mounts on the shaft with the hole for the cancel cam at 10 oclock. there is a groove in the surface of the hub that the horn wire fits into to cross over to the 2 oclock position where the hole is (at least on my wheel) for the wire to pass thru up to the horn button assy.

I guess depending on which cap you get, you may need to warm up the applique from the back side to reapply it in the correct final position.

The 3192 kit would have worked for me IF i would have drilled the wheel to match the hub, because the hole in the 3162 hub for the cancelling cam is in the 2 oclock position(wrong position).

Thanks George! I think ill probably just drill the hole in the wheel. I already had the 3162 kit coming before I read this. Other than the cancelling position being off it works fine? Will my turn signals work correctly with the 3162 kit? If it wont work then ill be ordering the 3196 I guess...

Cool Not sure why....

but '68 Camaro is "one year only" application....imagine all F-bodies are same in that respect...I dunno. Just an FYI.

The turn sigs will work correctly IF the tube of the cancelling cam is installed at the 10 oclock position with the wheel straight up. If you don`t do that, it may cancel with a small movement on a right turn and it may take a U turn on a left.

As George says... 3196 kit is the one. I bought the only one I could find around here at Pep Boys and it works perfectly. Now I finally have working horns, and more better working signal lights.

Well, Thanks to this thread..... I was able to order the correct installation kit.
I went with the 5196 Billet hub adapter, and with the hole in the 10 0'clock position, it went well.
I will say this..... the instructions included with the adapter and the wheel are some of the worst I have seen with any product. I pretty much just had to use common sense when putting the wheel on in the correct order.

Are you running an aftermarket tilt steering column?

I have the same wheel in mine. I ended up ordering a black billet adapter off of ebay to get rid of that horribly ugly rubber 3 hole to 5 hole adapter. I think it was like $20 shipped. Anyhow I had 0 issues with the install. No issues with my horn button as it can be clocked anywhere. Turn signals work as they should. I couldnt be happier with it. Like was mentioned though the instructions are absolutly worthless. Seriously they are an insult. Grant should be ashamed of themselves.

Pics in this thread....

I ordered the 3196 today. I drove the car for like 45-50 miles today and was fed up with the right turn signal.

Thanks Troy (67GTONUT) for letting me know about this thread.
