Just a quick update. Something I wanted to do all along since I decided to use a connecting rod for my column drop. I wanted to use the open pin end for a shift light.
I've been busy installing the full wiring kit. So far it's going well. Just takes a lot of time. Sorry for the large pic sizes. I changed over to windows ten and I can't seem to get them down. I'll figure it out. Mark

Mark,
That's a cool idea and it came out well. So far, I've avoided the free upgrade to Windows 10. They'll have to pry my Windows 7 from my cold, dead hands. Jim

I've often wished I had not changed. But like all the other upgrades----I'll get used to it---until the next one.

One just has to wonder why Microsoft is all of the sudden going to give away an operating system that they have always charged $100-$200 for in the past. Why are they doing that? Is it because they have embedded lots of spyware in it to spy on everything you do with your computer? I will never switch to a free Microsoft operating system. Just seems awful fishy to me. I like Win 7 just fine. I'm quite sure it's NOT because Bill Gates decided he has enough money.
Food for thought.

Nice shift light mount...creative.
Still use XP on old computer and have no issues. Windows 7 on one laptop is OK (laptop is a pos) another laptop and my daughters console on windows ten don't seem any more useful than my old xp. I like my phones android operating system. Has a keyboard making things easier for me...also has an HDMI port on it....I need to get a cable and see how it does hooked to a monitor. Its.absolutely amazing what can be done with a phone these days...including apps to setup/monitor efi. |

Handy in shop too...needed info on a 6-53 blower and Google search turned up part numbers for seals and rotor clearance/timing info. Torque specs for a Desoto 345 hemi just by asking Google... All kinds of automotive apps available for download. Yeah your missing a lot.... |

I had a problem of pre-oiling the engine with being back in the firewall. Not impossible but a pain. Bigger problem was, if I pre-oiled it from the normal distributor location, I would have to do it with the entire intake off so I could get at it. Then install the distributor and all of the intake etc., which would take a long time. Since I had the remote oil filter system I simply rolled the little 4 cylinder block in place. Made an oil adapter from an old Pontiac filter adapter with a -12 fitting and hooked the two together. I'll run the oil pump with the drill on the 4 cylinder and pre oil the 406, then I can have it ready to start in minutes after hooking the oil line back in place. The oil will go through the filter and I'll get an oil pressure reading from the filter housing. If I need to run the pre-oiler longer I can let the oil drain from the 406 as I'm oiling it and just add it back to the 4 cylinder.
I also added daylight running lights that double as turn signals. They are on all the time the ignition is on and when I need the turn signal they blink from white to yellow, back and forth. More stuff done. Mark

Ha, ha, ha---not funny Mr. Funny Pants!! Yeah, the TA car was not particularly pretty in the wiring department. The previous owner was not mechanically inclined at all and my electrician abilities are right behind that. This build is using a wiring harness kit so it is much nicer. BUT, I still have some of mu "specialty" wiring installed. Gotta show some respect for whence I came from, LOL.

Your wirings not bad.
Bad is the 39 Chevy street rod I'm fixing. Fuel pump, 2 electric fans, ac blower, solenoid and coil all pigtailed to one 14 gauge wire! Unfused! Cheap masking tape! Splice is at a hole under carpet(brake/gas pedal area). Glad you're making progress. I'm not! |

What the ----? It's been over 4 years since I last posted. Lots have changed and lots has happened but I'm still working on the car. Got it running and am fixing all the things that need to be corrected or changed. Is anyone still around?

Good to see you're still building, pretty common for advanced undertakings. The Darkside cannot fade away. You chose a great year!
