'68 Firebird coupe sail panels issues
The sail panels on my firebird have never been right and I would like to make 'em right
They are only being held in by the bottom and moulding on each end. How do I attach the center and the top horizontal piece that runs along the headliner ? Any and all help will surely be appreciated ! Thank you,,,Doug |

Mine dont look so good either. I thought about gluing them to thin sheet aluminum, so they could be shaped to match the edge where the headliner meets. The old ones were on thin paste board which has warped.

The one's on my wife's 68 firebird we held in by 3 clips that get attached to the cardboard.
I used a couple of screws with finish caps made by my upholstery shop to keep them in place. The caps that the upholstery shop used are the snap type, and are covered with the same material as on the sail panel. Charles

Thanks Chuck I'm gonna have to look at mine they are aftermarket and I'm not sure if they have the spots for the clips to attach to.

I asked an Auto Interior guy about it. He uses high strength Velcro. When they are new I guess its OK, but they get old and warp and then pull away. Unless you have the old backings, it would be tough to get the clips in the right spot. He can put them on and off to readjust them to get them where he wants them. Thats why he uses Velcro
