Precision Oil Pumps
Good afternoon Tin Indians. Any body have any feed back on Precision 80 psi oil pumps. Having engine freshened and looking for input.

Used the their 80 lb unit on my current 505 for a long time with no issues related to the pump itself. Now currently using a custom pump from Luhn Performance.

Is there some reason you want the 80lb pump vs a 60lb ? Lots of very fast rides with 60lb pump, and those 80 lb deals shove the cam forward that much more. Harder on the chain also. Stiff roller springs too. Might want to run a Sims chain.

What Crank are you running?
If it's crossdrilled as needed for racing then the 60 psi pump is fine even if your running 3.250" mains if your main Bearing clearance is not over .003".

Checking my data recorder after my runs this year and I never saw 60 lbs, I was between 50-55. I shift at 6,600 rpm a lilttle low, plans are to kick it up a bit.

FYI my last pump was a precision 60 lb pump it was great, I couldn’t get one this time so I bought a Mellings and got the hd plate from precision.

Thank you for the info fellas, sounds like the 60 psi is the direction I’ll go. Hopefully kill 2 birds with one stone because of timing chain stretch issue as well.

What imperical evidence leads to say that cross drilling is bad when it provides a constant oil feed to the rod bearings as opposed to the Rods only getting feed oil for 180 degrees of Crank rotation?

The Boss Bird engine would burn a sector of the mains when the feed hole was aligned with the oil slot in the upper half of the main bearing....telling me that the rods were stealing a significant amount of oil from the main bearings.
So I would agree with R-M that a cross-drilled crank would need more pressure and flow to keep the mains happy Eric
