Watched the 1st round of Stock.
Don Turk, plus all the 1st gen Birds survived. Billy Foder tripped the red light. Bob Michael had problems & couldn't make E-1. So, we'll have 4 Pontiac powered Stockers comin back for round 2. The drivers are: Julie Biermann, Randi Lyn Shipp, Chris Stephenson, & Don Turk. Last edited by ponyakr; 08-07-2020 at 10:46 AM. |

Randi Lyn Wins Again !
Yep, she won another race, with her '67 Bird !
Not sure exactly where the race took place, yet. Will try to get more info. https://www.facebook.com/rlshipp It was the Charlie Bohannon Memorial Race. That's all I have, right now. http://classracer.com/classforum/sho...78&postcount=6 The check was for $10,000. It was a Stock/SS combo race. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...&theater&ifg=1 Last edited by ponyakr; 08-16-2020 at 11:06 PM. |

Div 6
Ryan Warter was on the Q-list.
https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r=100#indextop The last car on the list was a '74 Ventura, driven by Jim Ellingson. Didn't quite run it's dial, in qualifying, but ran 12.472, in E-1. https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r=100#indextop Anybody know anything about the Ventura or the driver ? |

Div 1-3
I think this is a double header. This 1st race will be considered the 3rd race for NHRA div 1, this year. Therefore the designation "Div 1-3". The 2nd race will be the Jegs SPORTSnationals.
There were 3 Pontiac powered Stockers. Adam Strang was #20, Billy Nees was #38, & Lauren Kanuick was #69. https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...er=30#indextop In SS, Bill Kennedy was #6. https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...er=30#indextop For those who like to watch race videos. D1TV is covering this weekend's action. Div 1-3
Bill Kennedy made it down to 6 cars, then left just a hair too soon.
Thought he'd need a near perfect light, since his opponent had cut 2 REALLY good lights the 2 previous rounds. https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r=100#indextop Last edited by ponyakr; 08-22-2020 at 12:57 AM. |

@ Beech Bend, in Stock, Chris Stephenson was #17, Julie Biermann was # 18. Don Turk was #65. Randi Lyn Shipp got a DQ. Don't know what's up with that.
#72 was Travis Buth, driving a '70 GTO. Not familiar with the name. Only know of one '70 GTO Stocker, in recent years. It has been driven by Todd Kuhn. I don't really know who owns the car. https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...er=30#indextop In SS, Don Kennedy was #4. https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...er=30#indextop |

Quote:
Travis is an excellent driver. Went to Pomona last year for my old track. But he and his brother are Ferd guys. (Ellis is right above him in qualifying list) Probably he is driving someones GTO that he knows, Probird may know? (he also knows Turk maybe one of his cars?) Good luck to him!

Allen Hollingsworth & Todd Kuhn are the only 2 names I've seen on a DRC list driving a '70 GTO Stocker, in recent years. I think they may be racing buddies. Here's a race back in '08 where Allen was driving it. He's #65.
https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCStory.asp?ID=160753 In more recent years, Todd has usually been the driver, & Allen has been driving a 2nd gen Bird. I did notice that that there were 3 guys on that Q-list with the last name Buth. The Pontiac guys at the div 6 race had a bad day. Norman Warling did make it to round 2.
