Corporate Blue
I finally found where I had put my 78's 180 HP factory painted original valve covers. They were pulled off after about 30K miles. I previous discussions my mind remembered them as a little green tint compared to new spray can Corporate blue. I was wrong(yes I can admit when I was wrong! Hate to but I will
Here they are on some 6X heads that are painted with corporate blue in the sun and shade to get different contrasts. For sure not as shiny as new paint but look just a hair lighter blue.

That one is a good match for the heads. It seemed to differ slightly, even new. Not just the ultra-low mile cars but NOS engine parts in boxes, some that look blue, some that have strong green tinge and never seen heat.

What brand or product is the new stuff youre using? I am assuming this would be the correct colour for a 79 400. Im just about to pull the plug on a rebuild.

Duplicolor.
Although their older Pontiac Blue I used for the 65 GTO is almost different in every batch number on the cans!

It seems like mine was a lighter shade, close to the 59-64 color. My original engine is buried in my garage on a stand...

I am curious how close the color of the original valve covers is compared to the Duplicolor Chrysler Green that has been used by some as a replacement to GM Corporate blue.

This is a pic of an extremely low mile 1978. Age and heat change the color, plus it is well known that even new, there were extreme varaition in the color shade between batches.

These 6X heads have a heater nipple in the back of both heads. That was drivers side.
That oil pan has the greenish tint my memory thought my valve covers did.
