Default Door switch

On my 70 GTO the drivers door switch has a white and black wire running to it. I assume the blk wire is ground and the white is positive that turns on the interior light when the circuit is complete. However on the passenger door. There is only a switch without any wires running to it. Should there be a single white or both wires attached to the switch? Thanks

Pretty sure it completes the ground, and it's a 'complex' circuit where it has multiple point that can go ground.

Take a look at the schematic in the service manual.

Per HWYSTR455, there are two functions on the driver side switch, only one on the passenger side.

You need a white wire on the passenger side switch.

The black wire on the driver side switch grounds the key buzzer.

Either white wire will ground the dome light.

I'm sorry but don't know exactly where to tell you to look for your missing white wire... you might try removing the kick panel and looking for it.. hopefully just not routed where you want it. If you don't see the wire, removing the glove box liner to look for it might be easier than crawling under the dash.

And just to comment, the jam switches I believe all have 2 terminals, doesn't maker which you use.

Maybe Held for Ransom will chime in, believe he has a good understanding, and possibly a suggestion.

Incorrect. There are one and two prong switches.

I was thinking about the repops, but not often I actually look at them.

Thanks for the GM part numbers!

Thanks all for the information. I guess I can jump a white wire from the DS to the PS, without adding another ground?

Please measure the total length of your switches. The new ones are fully extended, and the first time you shut the door, it adjusts the switch for that particular door jamb.
