Sure wish I could be there but will be at home doing previously planned events. (Supposed to preach that Sunday while the pastor is gone on a short vacation)

Been to a couple of the old NMCA events back in '89/'90. That is when I first met Dan and Don Jensen. Boy, that was over 20 years ago.

The last time i saw Jensen..Swaruk was alive, and we had a great conversation about GT37s..i thought i found a 71 455HO car and he was really interesed, I never saw or talked to him again..he was a cool guy..,,,,it was up at Domino farms..and Jensen was driving his 455 ho T37 3 speed stick...what a cool, odd car..i cant even remeber when it was so long ago..the GTO nats where up there..anyone got a date? i cant remeber...

Thumbs up Speaking...

of John Sawruk...I judged his car at the GTOAA Nat's in C-bus, Ohio...with him walking along beside me! John had his "books" wit hhim assisting me in judging the class. His car was as yet unrestored. When we got to his...I noticed a big "goose-egg" where the top and rear 1/4 panel were joined. I told him I just "killed" the previous car for the very same thing...attribuing it to shoddy worksmanship! He swore that this was how it was delivered. Mopar put vinyl tops on nearly ALL Superbirds and Daytonas for that very reason...as the rushed the production of the "flat window" cars and weren't overly concerned with aesthetics. Anyway...I digress. Just brought back a wonderful memory from the "good old days"! BTW...I love these cars .Had a red 71 1/2 350 2bbl 3-speed. A friend bought a Tropical Lime/green/green vt car brand new. It was a 400/400 and ran much stronger than it had any right to! Great thread...thanks. Ron

Ron are you talking about when John showed up at the GTO Nationals in Columbus at the Marriot off Dublin-Granville Road around 1989? If so I wasn't there for the judging but was there for a couple of hours as some of the cars came in. Was a nice show and wish I could've stayed longer but had to get back to Mansfield where I was working as a Technician at the National Guard shop there.

Had me a bunch of fun, boys. Nice to chat with you both AND see the performance improvements!

Alas, it's such a short period of time we can spend chatting, and then it's over for another year. Wish there was an opportunity for it to be a bar stool and beer and no cars for once.

Bruno said he did a 12.29 @ 116. John G was about 12.6 @ 113 iirc Not sure about Mahoney's RAII bird other than well into the 11s. I lined up against one of the other RAII birds Sat morning before the shootouts and I beat him ... barely. A few others I don't know what they ran.

It's a must attend. I've yet to find a person that has attended as a participant or spectator that hasn't had a great time.

My brother actually got in the 12.4,s at a 114. He has a better technique off the line than me,and is a netter driver. Car still has a fuel issue that I have not got a handle on yet.

Aw c'mon John, Bet if you jumped in HIS car and drove it as hard as you could you'd put a couple of tenths on him too.
