Default Delaware City Cruise Night

I've been handed the cruise night in Delaware City this year. I hope at least some of you guys close by can come down and see us. Especially for the St. Judes show. We need all the support we can get for this show.

All dates are the 4th Saturday of the Month... March thru October. November is iffy due to the weather.

September 29th is our St. Jude's Crusin For The Kids show. There is a $20.00 fee to enter for each car, including driver and one passenger. And we will be charging an entrance fee for spectators too this year. This is a first and needed for this show. Not sure if there will be music and food (donations as payment) this year. My buddy that has run the show previously has health issues. He might or might not be able to do this show, but we'll work something out somehow.

I should have added directions.... but I fergot.

When you head in on RT 72, east from RT 13/7 or RT 1, go straight from the red light at the 72 and 13/7 intersection out past the refinery, keep going straight at the light (RT 9) and head into town. Be careful as the local cops DO hide with radar in the 25 mph zone coming into town. They will nail you if the can. When you get to the next light, just past Valero's, turn left on to Clinton St. and go to the end. You'll see the park on your left and Crabby Dick's restaurant on the left on the corner. There is a ramp by the circle where you turn right to go into the park.

Or check with an online map., or GPS.

Thanks for the directions. I have lived in the area for over 50 yrs, and am very familiar with most parts of DE, but have only been to Del city once! I will be coming in from 13/1 via 896,

Gary,

What time are the cruises ? Is there a fee for the rest of the year or only the St. Jude's show?

Have been to Delaware city and taken the ferry over to Fort Delaware. Nice little town and that area is nice by the water.

I will let my Oldsmobile club know about the cruises as well.

Thx,
Tom

Cruise for March 24 is canceled due to the weather. It'll be too wet, after this storm, to get into the park. Sorry, I was looking forward to it too. Next one will be April 28th.

Time is 2pm to 7pm for all Cruise Nights. All Cruise nights are free. Bring something to eat and drink or eat at Crabby Dick's across the street. Warning. They are expensive and with the crowd it is a good wait for service and food to come.

The fee is only for September 29th. Time will probable be the same as the Cruise Nights, but could change between how and then.

I will have bottled water on hand to sell for 1.00 each at all shows.

Just to let everyone know... NO Alcohol is allowed in the park or on the streets of Delaware City. The local cops keep a very close eye on things.... think plain clothed cops.

If someone is caught in the park with it I will lose my permit, and they could be arrested and fined.

Tva442, no problem. April will be a lot better.

I hope to make the BOPC show this year. Bill Gale is a friend of mine. We've worked the WWII Weekend together for years at the French Village admission gate. The last BOPC show I attended was at the Granite Run Mall. I hear Community Park will be a good spot.... and hear there's a good place to eat next door.

Gary,

I knew BG knows you, but did not realize it was from WWII weekend. That's a great show as well. Only been once, need to get there again. For those that don't know about that one, in nearby Reading, PA, awesome displays, reenactments and planes flying, including a B-29 !

Hope you can make our show. Shame Granite Run Mall closed, but new location is nice. Last year was our first year there and we had around 75 cars ! Ice Line rink next door had a snack bar last year, but have heard they opened a new restaurant in addition that also heard is nice.

Didn't know granite run closed, but then again its been years since ive been there. Maybe that's why. LOL. I stopped there for a show a few years ago on my way back from the Pypes show, I wonder if that's the one you guys are talking about.

It could be the one, on rt 1 in Media, PA, could be on your way back from Pypes. The mall as it was is no longer, though some of the anchor stores are staying and they are revitalizing it as a Town Center and renaming it the Promenade at Granite Run.

My car was the only one in the modified class for 2014. It sat all by it's lonesome. LOL

I'd love a copy of that photo if I could get one.

We had 86 cars. Special interest to me were a 68 GTO RA Carousel Red, black interior, 4 speed Judge; 67 GP convertible; and a 79 Special Edition Trans Am, black on black, T-top, automatic....... tho no WS6 package.

As of right now our Cruise Night is on. I hear thunderstorms are a possibility later on. If it starts raining before 2 pm it's cancelled, if not.... Come On Down. We'll play it by ear. LOL

Looks great here now but you never know.

Sorry I couldn't make it this week. I saw your reply on another thread. I went to a show in North East in the morning, and being it was my wifes bday dinner that evening De City was out. She's not a car person so I have to pick n choose where to go. I was also at Elkton on Thursday night so I was kinda pushing things. I am trying to talk her into coming to your cruise with me.

Here's the scoop for September.. yeah I know it's early and August 25th is still a go.... unless it rains.

September 22nd is our normal cruise night but the following weekend, the 29th, is our St. Jude's Benefit show. Donations for the kids and all proceeds go to St. Jude's. So let your friends know. This is the 5th Saturday of the month and as you know there's not much going on for car shows. We need all the cars and trucks we can get to make this year one of the best.... and as I've said... it's ALL for the kids. They need our help.

Angry Bad News

Last Thursday while I was up in Northern NY I received a phone call from the Chief of Police in Delaware City. As of now, unless I get liability insurance for the Cruise Night, we can no longer have them there in the park. I'm not rich and I can't afford any more insurance other than what I already have, so it doesn't look good.... unless a car club that has liability insurance wants to take over. This has been one of the best spots because of being on the grass and having shade to keep us all cooler, than out on those blacktop parking lots with no shade.

I know more by Tuesday night after the meeting with the Chief of Police.
