Default New lifts in the shop!

So I'm "uptown" now I had a 4 post and a 2 post lift installed this weekend in the shop. I hope it will make it easier than jack stands and a creeper to work on the projects. 4 Post I can stack cars too.

Last one if you look in the center real hard one of the two fawns running around in front of the shop.

I have a two post. Have had it 15 years. My only regret is that it’s not asymmetric which makes getting out a pain the older and fatter I get.

I've had my 4 post lift in the shop about 15 years now. One of the best investments I ever made.

There are a few nice advantages over the two post. One is that you have a nice flat place to lay parts when doing a brake job, for example. I made a sliding support for jacks so I can lift up the front or rear of the vehicle. Since mine is the larger lift (13,000lbs) you can put full size crew cab trucks or Suburban's on it, with plenty of room for jack stands once you get the tires off the lift.

That's the biggest negative from 4 post is that the weight is on the tires and you have to jack up the vehicle and effectively support it to remove them.

Nice shop BTW, I need that kind of room here for all my "projects".........Cliff

Carmine right now no motor but the 470"/409 is slated to go in it. Funny thing I saw the bodt attending the Pontiac Southern Nationals in Dallas years ago. It was at a house that has a small car lot in the front yard between Dallas and the track in Ennis we race at for the vent. Stopped in perfect for me no motor or tranny real SS, although an auto(my first car was a stick 409 64 SS). Called her back the next week she had sold it to a guy with a small dealership in a small town near Tyler. called the guy gave him $500 more and he even met me halfway to swap i on my trailer! It had been bought at an auction found the previous owner and he had full glass he had bought for it before he gave the project to the auction. Block for the 470 I've had since the 70s.

Shop is 50x70 so it will fit about 5-6 cars, parts and the tractor. Average 3 car garage is 20x30. Nose to nose two cars with 50' wide you have some extra room at each end. 2 post is an asymetrical. Tried to place it where if there was a car/truck on the lift the tractor would still fit in and not have ot pull that one off the lift.

I had it installed. They picked it up delivered and installed them. They were glad I had the tractor to help unload them off their trailer. they made the front end loader strain a little. They had had their truck with a lift stolen 3 weeks ago but actually found it themselves driving around town and called the cops who got the helicopter in and got it back but it was messed up some by the thieves. I figured those things were too heavy for me to tilt up!

House in the planning stages out in front of the shop in the next 2 years.

Two headaches with the shop. The 20' concrete apron uin front slopes towards the building so rain gets right up in spots to the bottome flashing. Might have to cut some channels to help it go away.

Biggest hassle was electric company and the super detailed load analysis they wanted before they would even tell me what pole they would come off! 2 electricians did not even get them the detail they wanted. Had to find a electrical engineer to do one. Still ended up with a 200 amp service like I told them to start!

Cool Shop, I like the lifts. But, I am jealous of the little stable you have there. Whats under the car cover, another Camaro?

The '78 TA is under the cover. I moved it between the Impala and the 2 post today. 4 post has wheels and moves pretty easily ,I slid it over a foot or 2 toward the Camaro.

Wife has a horse hobby-makes cars look cheap-can always park the car and expenses stop! Barn will probably go up after the house

Rich got the fawn circled blends in pretty good. It was just running full speed with the other one and then dropped down as I shot the picture.

In fact I met her my senior year of vet school sewing up her horse then. And had to make a house call to take them out and ask her out.
