You're supposed to begin with fitting the plate then tack the mount. We set the body back on to verify than tacked further. That would be the best way to do it. I think you could check the fit of the mount after but it really would not be any fun to try and do this with the body not completely off the frame.

Thanks for the reply. In my case, once the body is off the frame, it will go to my metal fab guy to do the rust repair while I refurbish the frame on my own. Since we'll be working simultaneously but separately on the body and frame, it will take some juggling to "borrow" the body for test fitting. But I can make it happen if absolutely necessary.
