Default Steering Wheel

I have used several ididit columns in 58-64 Chevrolet’s with the factory wheel. The only thing you have to do is drill a hole at the 10 o clock position for the turn signal cancelling cam. I am debating on using my factory wheel after having it recast or taking that 419 dollars and buying a few different wheels I have seen on eBay. All the ones I have looked at have a collar that mounts to the column and then you bolt the steering wheel to it. Anyone ever use an aftermarket wheel with an ididit column? Do you still have to drill that hole in the collar? Does it push the steering wheel forward any? I want to use my factory wheel, dream would be a good 64 wood wheel but the price to recast my wheel is 125 bucks higher than the wheels I’m looking at and the factory wood wheel is just insane. I am not paying 2000 dollars for a wheel that’s not even perfect
