Default Bonneville Progress

I thought I'd post some more pics of the Bonneville before they hit the website. I finally got the sheet metal trimmed in and on. I also decided to go with mahogany wood trim for the dash and horn ring.

The exhaust is now on, brakes are done and bled, gas tank is in. I'll be putting on the hood and aligning the front-end sheet metal tomorrow. I have the new heater core and will be finishing up the heater stuff this week.

I've spent probably 300,000 hours at the bead blast cabinet cleaning parts

Anyway, enjoy and keep in mind, I have no filler in these panels yet, they're just painted

64catdroptop: You're really moving ahead with your project! Very impressive results!
Thanks for keeping us updated, including the pics, and keep up the good work. Hmmm... those eight lug center caps look familiar...

Dan,

The center caps you are refering to are in the attic with the 8 lug repros I bought from John. I'll be using them on my 4spd convert. The center caps on the Bonneville came with the set of 8 lugs I bought from Steve Snyder. They came off of a '64 GP he has at his yard.

Good spot though......

BigAqua.... You'll have to wait until next summer. I've got a '63 4spd 421 GP in the spring and then in the fall I've got Patricks '65 2+2 'vert coming in. I did manage to squeeze in Waynes '66 Bonnie 'vert that I'm going to get back on the road for him by summer.

Jeff,
...that's the plan, my friend,.... that's the plan....

But really, folks, a little compoundig, a wool pad, and some elbow grease, I can make that primer shine. But honestly, thought, I really prefer the Sunfire Red.

Aaron got the hood aligned yesteday and we moved it to the paint booth. I spent most of the day wiping off the dust. Aaron and I were talking about giving it its first bath. AHHHH I can't wait to polish those nice curves. (and I'm not taking about my 25 year old wife!)

I plan on firing it up in the next few weeks. We'll have some down time on Wayne's '66 while waiting on interior and top items, and all I need now is the radiator and the trans cooling lines. I plan on rigging up an ignition to fire it and let it run. I dropped the radiator off today and should have it back by weeks end.

Ron,

Your progress is embarassingly fast.

I don't know whether to be inspired or 'take the pipe.'

It is going to be a killer by the summer.

Steve,
I'll be giving you a call.

DH,
Is that good or bad? It's really a simple process and the fact that the body on the Bonneville was in very good condition, makes all the difference on time. Since I've been doing this for a while, I know where to take things, like the body, to get them done. I've learned from the road of hard knocks. My first restoration, my '52 Chevy truck, took me 4 years. I also have a spouse who supports me and a partner who can work wonders with body work/sheet metal work. I'm good with welder and a plasma cutter, but I can't hold a candle to Aaron.

We're at about 175 man hours to get it to this point.

Thanks everyone,

-r-
