I don't trust that particular glossary from PHS. They have had goofs before. 37R - 3.73 sounds more in line , and jives with the option restrictions. Bird and Goat have always shared the same axle designator suffix when they were the same ratio. |

for 1970 there was both a code number and a UPC code used;
The code number was used on the order sheet; You should have a copy of the master order sheet if you purchased a PHS packet for your car; In the middle column-top is the engines section "34" - look there for the following:

754 would most likely show on your invoice for Mountain Performance Axle.
Hard to recall because think I have only seen one or two of these cars with it. Usually a Colorado thing. There was an orange Formula several years back that the seller made a lot of wild claims about. I think it was a mountain car |

In the chart I posted, it shows 3.31 and 3.36 gears.
The 3.31 is 12 bolt rear and the 3.36 is the 10 bolt I believe? Don't know if they had other ratios? (as the Mountain Perf option)

I think if it has a 12 bolt in car it would be 3.31, if a 10 bolt it would be 3.36.
12 bolt only in 400 engine Birds.

It would be WS for manual or YZ for TH400. Used in Formula/Trans AM or GTO.

I had a very early build 1971 Trans Am with a 3.07 12-bolt limited slip. It was an automatic a/c car. It was very original, I don't think it had ever been modified. The roof was damaged after a tree fell across the garage it was stored in during a hurricane. Both the carb and distributor were dated early July 1970.

348 is on your PHS Invoice for your Formula , Nacho.
Maybe someone with good books can break down code 754 Mountain Perf Axle. I don't know how it applies or why it would have such a special name. But it wasn't available with Ram3 engines. Meaning the ratio was probably comparable to what those already came with as standard. |
