Sooooooooo my '67 GTOhas a very intact original interior, perfect dash, no cuts for speakers, etc.
Only issues beyond carpet fading and a lingering odor of mothballs are two small splits on the driver's seat seams, and as expected, and typical driver's seat butt wear/cushion shine. Local FB Marketplace has a list for a very nice original '67 passenger seat. Price is a bit dear, but the patina would be a dead match, and would go with some other minor touch ups I'm planning. Could the new passenger seat be fitted with original driver's seat hardware and seatback release? I'd drop the dime if it would work. Many thanks! |

I think you can just switch the seat tracks. Right?
I doubt you could remove the old cover and reinstall it without tearing it. They have to stretch quite a bit and the old vinyl probably won’t take that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If the seat frames are the same as the big cars you can't swap the tracks from side to side.

I had 4 black front bucket seats for my FB and that was my plan as the 2 driver seats were not good but both passenger seats were very good, one is near perfect and the other only had a small tear in the outer bottom seam.
I took everything apart and cleaned the frames, added some wire and burlap webbing, replaced all the foam and put the passenger seat covers on for both sides The passenger side seat looked perfect, but after all the work, I couldn’t live with the small tear in the driver side seam and bought some new replacement covers, I only used one bottom cover from the new set, for the driver seat bottom. The material match is very good but the fit of the new aftermarket cover bottom is not quite as good as the original, maybe it was my mistake during the install as I am not an upholsterer. I did all the recovering work on a warm day and the old vinyl tolerated my incompetent workmanship quite well.
