Default Don’t be mad

I currently have 3 pontiacs. A 69 bird I’ve had for 37 years , a 62 lemans. Conv. I’ve had for 29 and a 58 2dr hard top that I turned into a resto mod. I love them all . I drive them all .each one is always a hit at the car shows(spent a lot of time to make them pretty) but now I just picked up my high school car . A 1970 Torino GT with a 429. !! My time frame is 5 years , the car is rust free from Oregon . I know it’s not a Pontiac (which is still the best ) but looking forward to starting a new project .and I’m really glad I have an understanding wife . ( had her 37 years also ) 😀

Was it actually your car from from high school, or the same model you had?

I always kinda liked those. I had an older cousin that had a '68 or '69 Cyclone GT back in the early '70s. Pretty much the same car.
It was one of those cars that left an impression on me as a 12 or 13 year old...just like the long, single black line it left on the street in front of our house as he pulled off in it one day. Deep metallic blue with black interior and white rally stripe.

No shaker hood just the regular hood scoop.( but if I find one it could change) and just the same model I had in high school. I’m thinking grabber blue with magnum 500 wheels , laser stripes and white interior . Has bucket seats and console automatic.

I have always liked that generation of Torinos. I had a 1971 Ranchero Squire several years back. I would still have it if the interior cab wasn't so cramped. The other bodystyles were much better in that regard.

Why would anyone be mad?
I love the diversity in these classics, and I can appreciate cars of many brands...

Those are cool cars.

Diversity (in cars) is great! I currently have 11 from 5 different manufacturers. I also like that body style & recently looked quickly at one in North Carolina. GT 429 matching numbers car...I just don't know if I want another project at the moment though.

Good Luck with the car & please show some pics!

God Bless

Ooops..I was mistaken and for some reason, I thought you said that it was a '69 Torino. But coincidentally, the same cousin had a red over black with yellow stripe '70 Torino as well. That one was after I was an adult in my 20s. Both were very nice cars.

A buddy back in the day had a '70 Torino Cobra with a 429, it was orange and didn't have a scoop, but the center of the hood was blacked out, seemed like it was a factory paint job. I really liked the car, and it was very fast. I still check out the Cobras and the GTs when I see them at shows.

A good friend of mine has an orange '70 429 Thunderjet Torino with black interior, original paint, and 4 speed. Neat car. I raced it with my '65 GTO 389 3x2 4 speed back in 1983 or so and blew it's doors off. Neat car, but not as fast as an old goat! Love the looks on the '70 Torino, and the build quality is very high as well. Neat cars that you rarely see these days.
Congrats on your score.

Before I got into Pontiac, I was into Ford. My father had both Pontiac and Ford, but was a Hudson guy at heart.

My first car was a Falcon Sprint 260 3-spd, my second car was a 68 Torino GT convertible with a 390 4-spd, my third car was a 1964 Buick Riviera 425 dual quad car. Then came my first Pontiac, a 67 400 4-spd Firebird. My dad had a dealer's license and I often went to the auto auction with him and came home with something interesting. In my junior year of college, I drove a dark green 1970 Torino GT with the laser stripes. It had a 351C automatic.

In the late 70s, my dad bought a tired Ford extended cab pickup to use around his shop. It was a 3/4 ton automatic, I think was a 1973 or 1974. The economy sucked in the late 70s, and a lot of companies were going out of business. he bought the truck cheap at a bankruptcy auction. It had been used by a construction company and was pretty beat up. The old truck was powered by a 360 motor that leaked oil and sucked gas like crazy. He found a low mileage 71 Thunderbird with a 429 that had been involved in an accident, which donated a motor to the cause With the 429 and steep gears, that truck would move.
