Talking 75 years married..

Yes, that's correct. My mother and father celebrate their 75th year of marriage today (the 22nd).

They are both well, live in their own house and basically care for themselves but with plenty of assistance from us 3 kids. My dad 96 y/o still drives his car although we wish he would stop. His mind is as sharp as a tack.

Dad was a bomber pilot in WW11, met my mother in England and they married over there. Dad was flying Wellingtons on anti submarine patrols. 7 hour flights with no protection flying over the bay of Biscay in 2 engined aircraft could not have been much fun.

But here we are, 75 years and still counting. Love them both to bits.

Ian

Congratulations to both of them! That's fantastic! Hard to imagine. Glad you are around to help them out. My grandmother drove until she was 91, and also carried a gun in her purse. She was small and badass.

My great aunt is 103, she thinks the piece of paper with her name on it fell behind God's desk. She said "I don't take the payments if I win the lottery, and I don't buy green bananas." She goes in next week for implants (Dental, you dirty bastards!). She has almost all of her adult teeth still. She looks maybe 75.

X2. 75 years together and healthy, living independently, is the giant bonus.

Congratulations to both of them!

My in-laws are approaching that number (69 years now) but I don't think they'll make it that far. Dad is 102 and alert. Mom is 90 and is still keeping dad in line.
And yes it is a challenge watching over them. Luckily my wife has six siblings to help.
