I haven't pulled the trigger on a QJ yet. The storage unit where I keep my car and where the QJ would be set up only has a 15 amp outlet. I realize it's the hydraulic pressure lifting the car and not electricity. Is anybody using a 15 amp outlet with their QJ?

I've used mine plugged into a cheap 25 foot drop light that is plugged into a 15 amp circuit. So it shouldn't be a problem. I didn't check the manual ... does it specify a 20 amp circuit?

But it really only takes a couple of minutes to move the QJ over to the side of the garage. There is enough hydraulic hose to move the right side to the wall, then move the power unit as far as possible to the right, then move the left side to the wall and then move the power unit to the wall.

I don't think that my Datsun will drive over them but everything else on the property will with no problem.

They offer it in a 12VDC model. I wonder if it takes longer to lift?

JEGS and Summit say the 6000 will be shipped early 2022.

The QJ rep I talked to thought it would draw 15 to 18 amps and recommended a 20 amp outlet. I thought about the battery option and I do have a generator I could use in a pinch as well.

110v says 10-15 amps ... but also says 0.550 KW .... which is 550 watts. which is 5 amps at 110v.
The way it behaves in my shop 5 amps sounds about right, lights on the same circuit do not even flicker when you hit the button. 15 amp circuit is absolutely plenty.

dataway you are correct, it should draw 5 amps. The 10-15 A is the suggested circuit capability. If it required a 20 amp circuit, it would have a NEMA 5-20P plug that will not fit a 15 amp circuit, not to mention it would be impractical for most DIYers.

Just wanted to touch base here again and thank the people that got me past my skepticism and talked me into one of these lifts. Will probably speed the completion of my GTO by six months due to the ease of access. Every time I get under the car I am thankful that again I listened to the people here.

Very timely post dataway. I started doing a rear end swap yesterday. All l did was separate the brake lines, and pull the drive shaft just to get myself committed.
It occurred to me that before l got the QJ, getting the car into position would have been the biggest accomplishment l had achieved in that process. Yesterday, it took me less than a minute.

What QuickJack model number did you purchase?

Been doing searching and Home Depot and Costco (https://www.costco.com/.product.1459210.html) have model number BL-5000SLX . If you go to quick jack home site https://www.quickjack.com/ that model does not show up?

But if you were do a google search you can get to it https://www.quickjack.com/car-lifts/bl-5000slx/

By the looks of Quick jacks web site they don't make the 5000slx any more. So Costco and the other place are selling old stock.

I got the 7000slx. We have a Sequoia that weighs a hair over 5000lbs. I like having some wiggle room.

I got the 5000SLX ... the newer TLX type that replaces them has about 3" more lift.

For me at least the additional lift doesn't really offer me much. I'm 6'4" and with long arms I can very comfortably reach everything I need ... any higher would just mean I have to reach farther.

Got mine at Home Depot, very happy with the deal I got there.

I haven't even needed the higher setting yet for what I've done so far. It's comfortably far enough from my face but no problem reaching everything above the differential.

I'm so happy with my purchase of the QJ5000 - which was done as a reaction to the pain of polishing 2 complete set of wheels (on car) for a cruise in at a real A&W drive in 3+ years ago. 4 major surgeries has taken a toll on my body, and bending over or getting down on my knees to work for prolonged periods results in serious pain for me. Sitting down while polishing rims is almost painless...

On this board and a Camaro board I belong to, many people have been skeptical about the quality and safety of the QJ, but I think this thread has been beneficial to many.

I justified the purchase by starting to change the oil on my 2 daily drivers myself. A full synthetic Dexos 2 oil change with an ACDelco oil filter costs about $50.00 at the dealer - my cost at home is about $18.00. It might take awhile, but at $32.00 a crack, I'm making progress. And that doesn't take into consideration all the Tylenol I don't have to take for the pain...

What is a "good price" for a Quickjack? I just received an ad from Costco for $100 - $200 off, depending on model. It appears that the BL-5000SLX is $1,099 after the $100 off. The same model with four pinch weld blocks and wall hangers is $1,199 after the $200 off.
